After the Army and Police, Bangladesh Navy Looks to Procure Kriss Vector SMGs

. . .
Good submachine gun. Country like Bangladesh where guns are not that common among criminals. A submachine is more then enough for a Policeman.
Bangladesh Police is finally compensating for their idiotic decision to make Type 56 SKS as their standard issue weapon - the 7.62×39 calibre is way too heavy for law enforcement especially in a densely populated country like BD.
Taurus SMT-9C is becoming standard issue now. Kriss Vector is used by specialised teams.

No it's not. Depends on kind of criminals you have. If they are not that much armed. Then submachine is enough but if even common thief has access to assault rifles then you need to equip your Police accordingly. Although for regular Police maximum caliber in my opinion should be 5.56 x 45 not 7.62 x 39.

I agree with using 5.56 in tactical situations. 7.62 is too much and can have unintended consequences (excessive stopping power/penetration and less accuracy).

I am not sure if guns are flowing into Bangladesh from Burma civil war or not

If yes than they'll probably need heavier rifles as eventually every criminal would get it's hand on those assault rifles

Yeah than your police would need assualt rifle
I think 25-40% of the police force should have proper assualt rifles like type 56 or something if your neighborhood is going through civil war

Our pilice had lee Enfield when AK's started showing up from Afghan civil war
Not a good idea

They should definitely have rifles but not for regular policing. Currently they mostly carry type 56 SKS during routine patrols, investigations and escort duties which is silly. It affects their mobility and hampers actual police work. Only sergeants and above are issued pistols.
