What's new

Advanced equipment is being purchased for the Air Force: Law Minister

India cannot stop Bangladesh from procuring any advance weapons system they want.... in fact it's in the interest of India that Bangladesh is becoming stronger..... we both are strategic allies.... in future China will shift its focus on bay of Bengal too.... India and Bangladesh both are weaker powers compared to China military might.... we are both getting ready for that future.... hence the strategic alliance... we need strong Bangladesh so we can protect each other....

It's great to see Bangladesh flexing up the muscles.... only thing is they should maintain the commonality in platforms considering our strategic alliance...

You just lost me there!!! I don't think we have any common platform other than the Fulcrums. So how would you maintain commonalty?
Majority of BA platforms are Chinese tanks, Chinese Artillery and Chinese SAMs. We are purchasing more Chinese tanks, Turkish/Chinese Artillery and Chinese SAMs. In order for IA to maintain commonality with BA, they have to buy Chinese platforms. Do you think that's possible?
Almost all major BN platforms are Chinese origin. That includes, SSKs, FFGs, CCG, LPCs and weapon systems. The next 6 Frigates will also most probably be of Chinese origin. Is IN going to purchase Chinese platforms to maintain commonality.
As for BAF, the MiG-29 is the major common platform with IAF for now but we only have 8 of them. Even then, our Fulcrums are sent to Ukraine or Belarus for upgrades and overhaul not to India. The upcoming Apache will be another common platform but I can assure you BAF is not gonna cooperate with IAF for them as well.
So, after all these points are noted how do you think commonality will be maintained?!!

BD AF if goes for American platform then it can use Turkish SOM for both land and sea stand off operations..mostly for F16..

And if it goes for Russian then...well it is going to be bound to Russian weapons as well.

In case of the Chinese J10E ... an array of SOW and AAM such SD10A/PL15 becomes available...

On the other hand second hand F16 upgraded to Blk52 would be great step as well...and down the road F35 for BD AF.

Regardless, BD Gov might be seeking a tough balancing act between the US and China....

Would be nice to know what BD posters think about the possible platfrom coming to their AF!

This choice will tell us all alot.

As crazy as this is to me to say, I hope BAF goes for Super Hornets or Eurofighters or perhaps both.

In reality, the next step is to reveal the identity of those 16 incoming fighters.

Indeed!

A fighter aircraft is not just a weapon system but also a policy instruement
... because the operator is going to remain bound to the country of origin for the entire life-cycle of such a system.

BD seems to be doing a tough balancing act... shows maturiy of foreign policy.

Just a curve ball...nothing malign... do you wish to replace your J7s with Tejas?

Down the road..not far from here you would need to replace your entire fleet and you cann't have only American medium class...

Or perhaps you are thinking about Gripen...but that would be rather expensive buy...considering weapons as well...

Just to have a respectful discussion...here!

I would be surprised if BAF ever bought Tejas.

Of course, anything is possible.

And it is true, and infact I would say procurement decisions are often times more reflective of the politics behind them than they are about actual tactical capability.

That being said, the choices Bangladesh makes will show clearer who she really is.

The one thing that is more apparent however is the finances are there this time.

As for the F-7 repalcement.....great question.

So many combinations out there.

I really don't know.

Chinese platforms are being procured as they come with no strings attached and are lethal and still cost effective just like russians.... But at the same time as a strategic ally Indians are given chance to study those platforms so we can both be ready with counter..... Bangladesh also knows one day they will be challenged by Dragon in bay of Bengal..... Hence strategic alliance with India, approaching other weapons suppliers apart from China is being done..... You will need time to understand this great game my friend....

For Red part.... Tejas will be certainly procured by BD to replace light weight F7.... For their current medium weight requirements they will either go for MIG 35 or possibly Rafales.... MIG 35 is most likely considering their solid history of operating Russian platforms....

Something tells me the 40 F-7s will be replaced with 40 J-10CEs.

You can dream about those fancy Super Hornets or Typhoons.... we are strategic partners and your destiny is either Rafales or Super Fulcrum MIG 35s.... that time we will decide who will join comedy.... we are strategic partners.... MIG 29 and Apache is already step taken... commonality is our motto....

Why don’t you buy Chinese products given you’re so keen on strategic alliances

Are you a dumbo??? We had war with China in 1962 and stand off in 2017 in doklam... we are enemies.... will they sell us their high tech platforms even if we ask?? Will we buy even if they offer us knowing fully that those platforms won't work against China?? Go and see psychiatrist before asking such idiot questions...

We may not get either Super Hornets or Typhoons but we are also not purchasing MiG-35 and it's for sure... It's you who can dream about the Fulcrums all you want. However, it'll not become reality.
Your hope of commonality and destiny will shatter pretty soon...

If not MIG 35s then Rafales... wanna bet??

Did anyone notice that he didn't mention MR-SAM like the previous year's parliament session? Could it be that BAF already secured the deal?

It looks familiar...

TRG-300 GMLRS.

Can anyone tell me what those trainers would be? I would reckon western?
Nah...PT6 replacements with....more PT6s! This time with glass cockpits though.
Really? I presumed PT-6 production ceased.

AFAIK they started the production again, i was probably reading once in DTB that all old PT-6 got replaced with new one equipped with glass cockpit. But i hope they switch to something new already though they have PT-6 simulator. Hürkuş-C would be nice or the DART 450/ 550/ TA-20 will be good enough i guess.

Secondly, why is the law minister reporting it lol.

Law minister answers any defense related question in parliament in absence of PM.
