Islam is a monotheist religion, I know Hinduism is not. We hold our parents to high regards, Quran stating, "Paradise is under mother's feet" but we certainly do not pray 'to' our mother or father.

When you are praying to an idol, you are holding partners with Allah swt. There is no sin that cannot be forgiven, except this.
