Lets bash the army some more shall we, in case you have been living under a rock for the past 2-3 weeks, the army has been more active than any other arm of the government in aid and rescue operations.

Tis the army who are fighting the militancy, tis the army who are securing the borders.

Whilst obama's speech has some merit, India did something very similar in 2004: Govt refuses foreign aid to fight disaster - India - The Times of India

India, as a matter of policy does not accept aid from foreign governments. It only accepts aid from non-profit organizations or the UN. Pakistan should do the same. If India wants to help, it should donate its aid money to the UN.

Well,Pakistan helped India with aid after the Gujarat Earthquake.India made no big fuss about it and accepted it like any other aid, with a thank you note. Now India is returning the favour, and Pakistan really needs every piece of aid it can get,as the immediate effects as well as the after effects are alarming.

Why do the Pakistani leadership have to make a big deal about it??Did they want to set an example in front of the public of Pakistan and show that they indeed have a spine???Well bad move and yet another example of classic shot sightedness. They go on asking for aid all over the World, but engage in petty politics when it comes to accepting help from next door neighbours. All they manage to do in the end is draw too much of international attention and criticism.Look, whats happening now, even the U.S. President is advising Govt. of Pakistan on the Indian aid.

IMO, the ball is in Pakistan side..GOP is doing mistake..I knw, India is late, but there are valid reasons behind it. But now, as India have offered the aid to Pakistan, The right gesture from GOP is to accept it and will revert back it when india will be in need.

These are the few issues where I see why Pakistani diplomats and bureaucrates fails on international area. World see hypocrisy when a country is asking aids for flood victims and not accepting 5M aid from neighbour. Humanitarian grounds are something where politics does not come into the picture whethere it is medical ailments from Indian hospital, Indian doctors in Red Cross or monetary help for natural disaster sufferers.

Aid is not the problem. the problem is superiority complex. If we get this aid we'll keep hearing it from Indian side even after 100000000000000000000 years. We gave you aid we gave you aid........

There is no superiority complex.. it is simply your hate filled eyes which can't see good even your own persons are dying. We even being large nation we took your aid during Gujrat earthquake in 2005. Do you really think, if we have such "superiority complex" then we accept it ?.. Naaah.

Please lock this thread, Pakistan bashing galore! Disgusting display of petty squabbling whilst people are dying. Disgusting.

Do we have same policy? Answer is No.. whatever India does is not the problem here.. We accepted your aids... Even then if this satisfy your Ego we are ready to go through UN channel.

One side you are trying to show sympathy to disaster victims and side by side you are not ready to accept aids.. We are not playing politics here.. It is your government who is denying this fact that Humanity is much bigger than all this political drama.

There has been past instances before.Just one example.

Rival Pakistan offers India help

India's traditional rival, Pakistan, has put aside differences with its neighbour to offer relief aid for victims of the Gujarat earthquake.

A C-130 transport plane, carrying 200 tents and more than 2,000 blankets, has arrived in Ahmedabad from the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi.

Two more relief flights are due to be sent out on Wednesday and Thursday.

The BBC's Islamabad correspondent, Susannah Price, says the donation of relief goods is being seen as a positive move by both sides.

Beyond politics

Pakistan was among a growing number of nations stepping forward to provide money, supplies or teams of experts to help India cope with the devastation left by Friday's earthquake.

''I have been saddened at the tragic loss of life and property in the earthquake,'' Pakistan's military leader, General Pervez Musharraf said in a statement after the quake.

Pakistani officials said the desperate situation of the survivors in Gujarat transcended political differences.

Islamabad's relief effort followed earlier confusion over whether or not India would accept aid from Pakistan.

Some 12 people were killed by the quake in Pakistan itself.

The United Nations has sent a five-member disaster assessment team to India and said it was ready to help in any way.

The British Red Cross sent 47,000 blankets and Britain has pledged £3m ($4.4m) to help survivors.

A 69-member British rescue team flew to India to help locate people still buried in rubble.

The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was preparing to send to emergency hospitals to India once they received initial reports from teams already on the ground.

Sniffer dogs

The Swiss Disaster Corps, which is famous for its expertise in coping with avalanches and earthquakes, has sent a team of 48 rescuers with sniffer dogs as well as 10 tonnes of supplies.

Taiwan, which was hit by huge earthquake which killed thousands, called in a team of 64 rescuers to help look for buried survivors.

The Japanese Red Cross sent 13 medical workers, three of them on Saturday and the rest on Sunday.

China's Red Cross has pledged $50,000 for relief efforts.

US President George W Bush offered his condolences on Friday and said American was ready to assist in any way.

IMO, it is a diplomatic failure of pakistan unable to take decision. they should have closed the matter ASAP. it is like playing in the hands of indians because it is providing indian diplomats ample time to exploit the situation in their favor. what
kind of message that will send to other nation? I am sorry but International diplomacy works like this only.

Madam ji, If a country tends to help other country by means of Aid, it is done on direct basis, not via mediums...OK ji..

Not at all. We have seen Indian Civil Society doing it without asking for undue publicity similarly Pakistan did help India in Gujrat quake by without asking for Undue publicity by sending goods and other stuff even if directly.

Do send the goods sans much drama

If India sends and Pakistan accept the aid, Do you think all this happens which you are calling as Drama?

Pakistan hasn't responded for Indian aid even after 8-9 days and you call this Indian drama?

We dont need publicity ma'm, We have many other ways to publicize our nation. It is you who has to watch out your self from hypocrisy and bad publicity. We are safe here..
