Actually sanctions don't help in any way shape or form. Sanctions mean a more urgent need for a half-good product. But not being under sanctions means you can buy now but continue to make a very good product with R&D that is state of the art by the time it finishes.

Iran is forced due to defense needs to make all those Defense products but we all know that all of them are 60s-70s-80s tech. They fill the gap now but that is really not a solution. KSA for example engaged in a LOT of ToT lately. ToT is a very good and precious thing by the way. Iranian family of missiles came from NK ToT. however the effect of all these ToTs will not be felt until after some time now at least 3-5 years. again the same was the case with NK ToT of missiles.
