Bottom line, the PDM government was aware and whether that mattered or not is besides the point because this is Pakistan unfortunately. PTI is unhappy with the pivot away from Russia to the Western block. What was done here could have been done under the PTI rule as well. It's just that PTI government was sent packing before the IMF reckoning came our way.

To me, this is just another example of establishment doing what it must to keep the country afloat. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this is the ground reality in Pakistan.

If true then IK was yet to learn not to confuse the domestic politics with the geo-politics, where you have to play extremely smart to leverage the dynamics, for which 24 hrs is a long time....

IK is a fast learner. Hopefully, he has already learnt the fine crafts of the game....

IK only had to do one thing---send his foreign secretary to the russian ambassador in pakistan and told him to convey to Putin---that pakistan under extreme duress has to side with the americans for its existence---.

The russians are prudent people---they would have easily understood the situation at hand---.

But how did they save Pakistan? This move by the establishment lost billions of dollars, stoked ethnic tensions, intensified the brain drain, and nuked the economy in way with no chance of recovery.

You got a loan of $3 billion in exchange for losing over $7 billion of hard cash through exports & remittances.

IK has issues, but he's certainly smarter than the FA pass guys who made yet another one of biggest strategic blunders in the country's history.

By all means remove IK, but please keep the people running the establishment away from the big boys table. They will only get burned by the real players of geopolitics.

Only if the dead could answer that question---the dead in afghanistan---in Iraq---in Libya---in Syria---.

Only if the destroyed civilization in syria could answer that question from the living---.

If they could---they would ask---are the walls of your home standing---are you able to do your daily chores without hinderance---are your children alive and going to schools---then that means that " you are saved ".

What we lost is cash---but our infra structure is still alive and present---. It is not in ruins---.

IK is known to be extremely hard headed and he is known to repent his mistakes after the fact---but he continuously keeps making errors in judgement---.

Maybe that is an inherent problem due to the incompetence of his ministers---. A president---a prime minister---a governor---a chief minister does not do everything on their own---. It befalls their advisors to do the job right.

IK's big error was praising the military leadership---. Once you praise them---you cannot take those words back easily---. Then giving him extension---then tactically not having right kind of spies telling him what was happening---and maybe not listening to those warning him---.

IK is a good man---but he does have his faults---.
