U call us poor In return We call u poor.

Moral of the thread SUBCONTINENT IS POOR

How unfortunate

. . . .
We are in much better shape.
We increase the standard defining poverty. india lowers it.
Rps 28 is about usd 0.67. the indian government should have further lowered the standard to Rps 15 and then reports that they are successful lifting another tens of millions out of poverty.

Most milk in India contaminated or diluted | Reuters

"(Reuters) - Indians may think twice before gulping down a glass of milk after the country's food safety regulator found most samples collected in a survey were either diluted or adulterated with products including fertilizer, bleach and detergent..."

Actually have right to complain any thing ... do you have same ?????

complaining about anything but it takes another decade for india to do something

we do complain anything and our government is doing better to address problems

.
Here tainted milk is diluted milk, not poisoned unlike in China. At least Indian milk is not tainted with Melamine.

So in your country bleach and fertilizer are not poisonous?

India strong!

Start cutting your defense budget
poverty will end up
Infact it's still lower compared to our gdp..
See we r 10 times larger than you in terms of gdp, but only 6 times higher in defence budget..This shows the difference between defence spendings...
@topic : 70% by 2$ per day which is very average income for single citizen to live in india..
Even any pakistani and chinese can experience this, by just spending 2$ per day for good food without any problem in india...I guarantee it...:agree:

Do dependent wives, school/college students, old parents are also included when per capita income is calculated.

.
it depends upon what is the definition $1.25, $2 or mere $1

you are correct, it just depends how we define poverty and at what level. GDP of India on PPP in 2011 was around $4.45tn and it is expected that ‘undocumented’ part of GDP would be around 60% to total Indian GDP, which raises the total GDP on PPP to around $7.1tn. and it is expected that around 30%, around 350mil of Indian population have per capita income in the category of Poland, Argentina, Malaysia type country, at around $16,000 per head on PPP. Therefore, share of middle class in Indian GDP would be around $5.5tn so it leaves around $1.6tn only for rest of around 850mil people with average income of around $1,900 per head on PPP, listing per capita income of rest of 850million Indians in the category of the very poor countries like Bangladesh, Nepal.

Then here, I would like to say that out of all the patriotic movies of Mr Bharat Kumar, I like this song the most as above. This is the movie of Mr Bharat Kumar which came around 42 years before when population of India was around 600mil only. Population of India was around 341mil only at the time of freedom in 1947 while you now have 350mil people who are categorized with the ‘Very High HDI’ countries like Poland, Argentina, Malaysia but you still have over 850mil for what you don't have not enough resources? Heavy subsidies is provided to support poor in India who dont pay any tax also, specially in agriculture sector heavy tax is provided but still it accounts around 50% Indian population, 600mil, who work in agriculture sector and keep over 550mil of this total 850mil poor people?

As per statistics, India provides around Rs855 billion subsidy to its farmers to reduce their production cost, whereas Pakistan hardly spends Rs8 billion in this regard.

(for those who don’t know the concept of ‘Undocumented Part of GDP’ for developing countries like India, I would like to explain how India, Pakistan, China type countries have so big ‘undocumented part’ of GDP. For a developed country like Australia, we have to take pay only in bank account which would be ‘documented’ by the tax payers to pay taxes. You can’t do any job like ‘cash in hands’ jobs which is illegal in Australia. You have to document you every single dollar of earning to pay tax. But in India, for example in farm sector which employ around 50% population of India, it is funny to know if any of them ever took pay through ‘salary slip’, , all most all of them are ‘hand to mouth’. Similarly in Delhi/ Mumbai type metros, you will find almost all the labors either illiterate to know they would account details of their salaries, or, they simply haven’t heard about it. This way, except the labors working in the branded factories, none of Indian lower class have their ‘documented’ salaries. Similarly, no Rikshaw Wala type people working on the streets/ roads in the small cities like Lucknow/ Kanpur ever heard that they would ‘document’ their pay. With lower income group, we also have higher income group who have big amount of black money being circulated which isn’t ‘documented’. People doing normal businesses generally hide their even 50% income to avoid paying taxes on it, which they don’t show and spend for luxury things like travelling/ buying luxury stuffs etc. so this way income came and gone without informing to tax department about their ‘100%’ income. a big part of the income of the businesses are ‘undocumented’. So, it is believed that the country like India, Pakistan would have 60% of ‘undocumented’ part of GDP and China would be on around 40% and EU nations would have only around 2% to 5% undocumented part of GDP.)

it is the social workers' job to do the survey reflecting the true picture of poverty not tax collectors. another exercise which is very important to reflect genuine social status of a country is the census
