A Strange Marriage Custom of Hindkowans

Do i hear someone calling my city's name here, Taxila (Taxlay to be more precise). :)

Wesay yeh pakhli / pakhal mujy b samj ni aya, what is this place?

hahah oo jatka tu taxlay na ee?

Pakhli or Pakhal are parts parts of Hazara division. As a layman definition the areas that come after Mansehra going up to Bafa area onward until few streams separate these areas, are called part of Pakhal or Pakhli.

Pakhal or Pakhli was once called Pakhal Sarkar and it had been part of few kingdoms including that of Mughals and was once a separate kingdom as well at that Time its King was Arsakes somewhere around the period of Alexander the great.

The history of this region is very interesting if you may read. One can understand and find out how Pashtuns and Syeds Dominated hazara.

Basically Punjabi,

Have family (father side) settled in interior Sindh (moved there after Partition)

Mother's family moved to Faisalabad (though both are related) so there is that connection.

Currently i myself have moved to Faisalabad (a decision i am not so happy with now but its too late :P )

So in short, i am from Pakistan.
But i like being related to Taxila the most. :)

There were 500 rajputs but these were tenants so British wrote that they were just using title. Few dozen random jats as well but that's all. About hazara division Mughals, British wrote their origins were also questionable. Turks are real ones because their is whole history behind them in Hazara region, though I don't know exact details.

About hazara swatis, according to British they claimed to be pashtun because they moved from other side of indus. But British official had doubts and also said that swatis were not physically fit for army. Maybe swatis in Hazara are dards who were displaced by pashtuns.

@Mian Babban likely knows about Hazara division turks and swatis.

Swatis are same people as "Dehgan" of Afghanistan's Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar etc, some times referred to as Tajiks but they are most probably Dardics (They styled themselves as "Sultan" in Swat and the Dardics of Tirah also styled themselves Sultans). When Yousafzais conquered Swat in early 16th century, a section of Swatis, the Mamialis, sided with invaders and informed them that they are also of Yousafzai origin though they moved from Kandahar to Swat in ancient times , thats why they dont resemble Yousafzais. So one of the three main section of Swatis, was of Pashtun origin. Later Swatis in present-day Hazara absorbed many Pashtun clans. So on the whole, majority of the Swatis claim Pashtun roots and at least half of them speak Pashto. Its obvious its not a homogenous tribe. Former inhabitants of Swat, of various backgrounds, are called Swatis. Its ruling clan, the Gabaris, call themeselves Tajiks and claim to be descendants of Cyrus the great. Shah Mir Swati, who conquered Kashmir, was a Gabari.

About Turks of Hazara, they were indeed genuine Turks and were interestingly non-Muslims for long time. In our sources they are mentioned as "pagans" (Kafir)
