Recently my uncle got married in a Hindko speaking Jadoon family of Abbotabad. What I found most strange was that these guys did not hand us over the bride until they didn't drove their girl all the way from Abbotabad to Nowshera where we were temporarily living and left in an instant after dropping the bride without drinking even a glass of water. We requested them a lot to at least drink a glass of water as they had drove so long non-stop in this heat but they refused and left in an instant.
Can someone from that region shed light on what type of a custom is this?I mean simply mind boggling.

There is Indian tradition that you do not eat in the in-laws home of your daughter. Not sure if it is the same in Pakistan.

Yes bro this definitely a Hindu custom but I am really surprised as to why it is in practice by Hindkowans in Pakistan. Maybe some Hindkowan here might explain.

It is much easier to change one's religion than change age old customs, traditions and habits.

There are many subcontinent Muslims who converted to Islam very recently (1700s to early 1800s).

Hindu-Muslim marriages were also a very common place.

I don't think this is some sort of a tradition as many people in Rawalpindi are mostly hindkowans people, yet I haven't seen such things in their marriages, maybe the people don't like eating, drinking or staying in married people house at the marriage time but later on after some time would come to the house.

But, I would say this much there are many Indian traditions we people uphold in our marriages like the mehndi and shaadi or ruksati of the bride yet our Holy Prophet(SAW) only did Valima which is also in a manner a Sunnah. According to Islam there are mainly two things of marriage The Niqqah and the Valima, people can do the both at the same day or in two days.

Its in our custom to take a girl to her new home by ourselves n we do not usully drink or eat at sisters home coz its against our pride coz according to pathans traditions we are not allowed to take anything from sisters, its our duty to provide her everything. it has nothing to do anything with hinduism

What is strange in it? I am from photohar region and people do same in here i.e they hesitate to live or eat at sister house because she depend on her husband so they think its better to give her stuff rather than taking stuffs from her or even eat in there to make it burden for her or for her in laws

Hindko speaker/Hindkowans are pathan?

. .
Hindkowans are somewhat a mixture of Pashtuns and Punjabis as many Hindko tribes can speak Pashto as well as their own Hindko language.
Speaking or learning pahstoo don't make you a Pashtun. I thought Pashtun and Hindokowans are two different ethnic groups who are living side by side in hazara division ..Mixed marriage exist for example if you visit attock then you will find many mixed family i.e either father is Pashtun and mother is Hindko speaker or vice vesa

Hindko/Pashtoo mixed tappe :D

You can found this custom in Punjab also especially Indian Punjab there are saying (we don't drink even a drop of water from Sister / Daughter's house).
Just a custom to show that we don't take any benefit from girls but always gives them whatever they need.

I doubt you people drive brides to the grooms house.

And Jadoons are Pashtuns.. not former Hindus etc.
