No, the only forces which took part of the opt was executed by the Saudi National Guard, Royal Saudi Land Force, and Saudi Police on one hand, and Pakistan's Special Service Group on the other hand.

The attack wasn't orchestrated by Shia but lunatic extremist Sunnis. However, Shia extremists were behind two terror attacks in Mecca, and a minor attack in Madina.

True, we didn't have Special Armed Commandos to conduct such an operation on their own. A year later, the Saudi National Guard, Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Defense created one unit per each establishment
