Try to understand nobody is saying Karachi is nothing or Karachi is village, why are u so insecure??????

On calling some karachi mall Asia's biggest i like to introduce "Mantri Square Mall" in India which is spread over 1.7 Million Sq Ft this about 6 times bigger then Karachi mall. BTW, all the malls are fully air conditioned.

First we should commend India for its remarkable economic performance.
Secondly, this article portrays a family which transitioned from slums of Karachi into posh malls of Delhi. But kudos to Indian stupid orange journalist for twisting and bending their feedback into portraying Karachi as a backward and underdeveloped dump yard. Slum dog millionaire was not made in Karachi, it was made in Mumbai..go figure.

No one says Karachi is a village,but the fact remains a fact,Karachi has malls,but i doubt if they can stand in comparison to the ones in Delhi and Gurgaon etc etc etc.

What does that prove? That both sides are blindly diving into excessive consumerism?

Development is good and eventually all of South Asia will be boasting such outlets just because of the massive populations. Yet the issue goes back to, how much of this is good and realistically, what part of the population can really afford such things?

In a city like Gurgaon every other person can afford it.

On negative note i diagree a bit, although about 55million of indian population is poor but do also consider 40 million strong middle class that could afford these malls, and best part upon which india booms is that this middle class going to expected to be 3 times by 2025.

Something is amiss in terms of the numbers here. Development for India is a good thing by the way so I am not here to put this down in any way. My point was about how people afford it. Someone responded, everybody in Gurgaon can afford it. Well if Gurgaon is the entire of India then this is news to me.

Now coming back to your numbers, you say 55 million is poor and 40 million are middle class. That is 95 million people. So what category are the rest of 1 billion, 139 million people? Either they all must be like Gurgaonites or they are all very poor. I think your numbers misrepresent the real situation. Pakistan is no different. The malls are packed but the shoppers hardly represent the masses even though over the past 8 years, the middle class has seen significant growth.

Thats what he said,no. of poor in India is not 55million,but many other Pakistani and Chinese are not ready to accept it,he didnt want to derail the topic,the poor in India factually are 28.89%,do the calculations yourself.

It was made in Dharavi slumcity, yes same Dharavi whose now a days real estate worth is considered more than that of whole Karachi cityP
