The war on terror has achieved one of the biggest successes in last 22 years after majority of the areas in the Jammu division were declared militancy-free. “You cannot find a single militant in most of the areas in Jammu division. At the most, 30 to 40 militants will be operating in whole of the Jammu division,” said Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister.

This is for the first time that the government is claiming that militancy in Jammu division has been reduced to double digits. Jammu province shares huge border with Pakistan and it has been the worst hit by militancy in the last 22 years of turmoil.

Hundreds of people were gunned down by militants. Several members of the minority community were executed by the militants. Jammu division also has the highest number of village defence committees to protect the people from terror attacks.

“The security forces have to be very cautious because it is during this twilight period when militants carry out brutal attacks to raise the morale of their cadres. While the government, police and security forces can draw satisfaction, they should also remain more vigilant,” said MM Khajuria, former director general of J&K police. While Jammu division is rejoicing, Kashmir is still a problem area for the security forces with over 200 militants there. This year so far only 100 militancy-related incident were witnessed in the state against 192 last year.

No.. India till early 50's said that it would conduct the plebiscite once Pakistan fulfills the pre conditions of the plebiscite (withdrawal of Pakistani forces and irregulars). Post 1950's India stated that with the demographic changes brought about by Pakistan, Plebiscite is no longer an option.

No.. India till early 50's said that it would conduct the plebiscite once Pakistan fulfills the pre conditions of the plebiscite (withdrawal of Pakistani forces and irregulars). Post 1950's India stated that with the demographic changes brought about by Pakistan, Plebiscite is no longer an option.

Moreover the plebiscite didn't include the clause of independent Kashmir.

Jammu turns out to be militancy- free state, UK to revoke travel advisory

Srinagar, Nov 7 (TruthDive): For the first time in more than two decades, the hilly region of Jammu has achieved one of the largest victories as it has been declared a safe and militancy-free state where hardly can anyone find a single militant group operating in whole of Jammu.

“It is difficult to find a single militant group throughout the region, where 30 to 40 militants were found operating earlier,” said Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah.

The region was severely hit by the militants in the past decades and this is perhaps the first time the government of Jammu and Kashmir which shares a vast border with Pakistan has announced that militancy in the region has been reduced to double digits that had been long under the control of the militancy groups of Pakistan.

Each year, a large number of people mainly belonging to minority communities were shot dead by the militants in the valley region of Jammu and Kashmir which had the maximum number of village defence committees to safeguard the people from falling victims to the military attacks.

“ Security forces ought to be very careful as the militants can carry out their brutal attacks anytime to lift the confidence of their militant groups. Even though we are satisfied with the development, we should be more attentive than before,” said former director general of J&K police MM Khajuria.

While the officials have announced Jammu slowly turning to be militancy–free state, Kashmir still is causing concern day by day as more than hundreds of violent incidents occur in the state.

Meanwhile, Sir James Bevan, the British high commissioner to India wrote a letter recently to the state Chief minister declaring its willingness to cancel the advisory whereby it prohibits its citizens touring the state. After observing an international recognition in the drop of military attacks in the state, Japan and Germany have already cancelled such an advisory following which the UK is also likely to follow.

This clearly indicates that there is an external force needed to keep the area troubled. Left on its own, the state is a peaceful paradise and can grow and prosper. Who is the real enemy then ? Some people live in a $hit hole and want to spoil the lifes of others too. It is a clear opposite of live and let live.

Jammu has vast pro Indian population.Since most of the pakistanis know iota about Jammu and Kashmir i couldnt expect anything better expect for one thing......Azaaadi.

This is what i have been saying.I belong to Jammu region and it is as peaceful as any other region.There is NO local support for any movement here and these kashmiri seperatists(politicians and terrorists) get their assaz kicked when they land here.
