A False Start for Sino-Pakistani JF-17 Thunder?

In a market where major arms exporting countries are trying to sell their products to developing countries, why would they let Pakistan into their share of the pie.

It would be a pretty big achievement if we are able to sell JF-17 to anyone.
However, it doesn't matter, PAF is flying it and that's more than enough that it is fulfilling our own requirements.

Off topic: IMO Tejas might just fair well in winning orders as and when its export version is made available owing solely to its support from the US and Russian blocks
Doubtful. Both countries play as dirty as it gets when it comes to securing orders for its own companies. As an example: They would like a country to buy early model F-16's than a Tejas.

That apart, I doubt that India would be able to export LCA. Only the private companies in India know how to play the game..and they have only just been let into the defense sector of India and allowed to export with some freedom...courtesy the Modi Govt's new policies on defense sector.

Defence exports by private sector increase six-fold after policy changes - The Economic Times

Its starting for India but It would be a decade before Indian companies really start making a mark on the international defense export market.

It's not a false start. When a new competitor enters market already established competitors try their best to ensure that the new competitor does not win a contract.

The tactics include lowering price, using friendly contacts, putting diplomatic pressure and also offering extremely favorable payment terms.

Sooner or later JF-17 shall have a contract. Marketing and negotiating team needs to be extremely professional and innovative.

It will help if China inducts the jf-17 in the plaaf
Opponents will have a field day against the jf-17

We are witness to the rise of a superpower, a behemoth, whose might will be unparallaled in the history of mankind. Whatever country is on its right side today is going to benefit immensely in future-economicaly, technologicaly and politicaly. I think jft is just a precursor to many more things to come.
More than the technicalities and cost, the biggest test for JF-17 would be to see how many developing countries can go against the combined interests of both US & India. Chinese power would surely help it's cause. Only time would tell.

Yeah that's well said!
Technological ability won't just be the only factor. Can the Chinese influence the developing countries (potential buyers) in a way that negates the US influence and hence the actual pitching would be done on that front.
Well said.
