‘India and Pak nearing deal on Siachen’

You don't fail in battle when you werent there in the first place to engage the enemy!
Are you saying your Army hasn't tried to take control of Siachen. If yes, then you are factually wrong. I suggest you study the matter. ;)

.
Very simple example; Pakistan isn't vying for a permanent seat at the UN, India is! But it has border issues with nearly all of its neighbours and those are potential 'ignition sources'. It weakens India's position vis-a-vis the more peace-oriented states vying for the same spot such as Japan!.

Sid,India's disagreement with any neighbouring country is not the reason why india cant get a UN permanant seat, its just because there are more eligible members like japan and Germany.

There was no Pakistani action in Siachen or even intelligence to support that arguement.

I have read otherwise

Sid already explained the situation, India entered Siachen as soon as the passes opened from your side and well before PA could take their position.
Same tactic would have been repeated in Kargill so we prevented it by following the lead of freedom fighters who were already there when PA arrived.
PA in Kargill showed what its capable of.

What makes country like Japan more eligable, compared to India she has a small population and no nukes.
Border disputes with your neighbours may not be the main reasonm but it certainly weakens your image and position.

Indian propaganda machine is very powerfull. ;)

if u think Indias border dispute is an issue,Well japan has a more violent past and its war temple creates more furore than anything else,

Tiny nation..did u call japan a tiny nation.Would your life be the same without japanesse tech?

Nukes?Who is bothered ?thats not a criteria for a great/good nation.

Violant past yet its the most pacifist country on earth today.
That counts more than whats in the past.

You didn't get me bro, I referred to the size of population; India is the second largest country on earth, Japan is ranked 9th.

Japan is anyway more eligible than any other country.
Considering the fact that all other permanent members happen to have nukes India should be more logical choice, which again brings me to my point that border disputes with her neighbours is a bigger issues Indians are not willing to accept.

But I agree that Japan, Brazil and even South Korea are more eligable than India or Pakistan.

i agree to Japan, that it is more eligible, and i think Brazil is on the same footing as India , but how the hell is S.Korea more eligible??

And wrt Japan, when the negotiations were on about admission in P-5, it is widely said by experts that if Japan does not get in Now, it never will, because its influence is fading, while India and Brazil's influence is rising. Even if they dont get it now, they can at a later stage when they'r even more influential. But this is Japan's only shot. Japan did not try in the 60's, 70's, when it was at its peak, now its time for others.

Within a decade, i think that it would be a sureshot no-go for Japan, and India, Brazil and Germany leading the game.
