8 Year Delivery Schedule for FGFA?

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Sumedhanand Saraswati in Lok Sabha informed Parliamentarians that Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) which is a joint Design and Development (D&D) programme between India and Russia is still stuck and R&D Contract has not been finalised yet.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from Indian side and M/s Rosboronexport from the Russian side signed the Preliminary Design Contract on 21st December 2010. The Preliminary Design phase of the project has been completed by June, 2013. Under the Preliminary Design Contract, the expenditure committed so far, is Rs. 1,418.91 crore.
Parrikar also informed that once the contract is signed delivery of FGFA can commence after 94 months from the start of the contract. As per the draft of R&D Contract Russia will Supply India with 3 Prototypes of T-50/Pak-Fa which will be evaluated by Indian Air force and necessary changes and customisation will be ongoing process till FGFA variant asked by Indian air force is ready and enters production.
As per information given by Defence Minister Parrikar once India and Russia sign R&D Contract FGFA variant customised for Indian air force will enter into Production/delivered close to 8 years after Contract comes into effect. idrw.org was first to report that ( Read FGFA Spec to be downgraded ?? ) Indian air force is planning to take Sukhoi-30MKI route in development of FGFA which will be developed as per IAF requirements over the years and technology required by IAF will be sourced from existing suppliers which thus will reduce R&D draft contract which stands at 11$ Billion .
