India has neglected it's armed forces for decades, do you remember your rouge general starting Kargil and India didnt have simple equipment ready? There is no arms race, war mongering, it's called being prepared. India spends below 2.5% of it's GDP on it's military. Even Pakistan does more. Actually, India it should spend a little more.

250B$? Where will the money come from Mr. Media correspondent? I am happy with slow but steady phase of modernisation. Pakistan we can take care of. China we need to plan long term, and pumping money is not a solution. Building capabilities take time and we are not going to war with Chinese in shorter or longer term.

With China the strategy must be to make India strong enough that it changes its strategic calculus.

I have long had a dream of a political, military power in the name of BRICS.

The major problem with that is the India-China relationship.

We would be delight to have an arm race with India, see who will be bankrupted first like Soviet Union. 90% of our stockpile is for Japan and US in pacific but If India want to get our attention, their wishes are our command.

But China don't need to spend 250 billions to take care of India, we have over 5000 of J-5, J-6 and J-7 combined that can converted into a GPS kamikaze missile drone (one way ticket), India will be a good junkyard to dispose all these retired planes...but first we will make sure it land on right target then India can help us properly disposed its.
