7500 Bangladeshis arrested in Delhi

India is not the United States of America. We have limited resources for our own 1.3 billion people. We cannot afford to open our borders to refugees like US can. We still take in political refugees, be they from Tibet or Bangladesh, but we cannot take in thousands of refugees that will strain our economy. Moreover, these refugees from Bangladesh are known to cause more trouble than anything else. They engage in illegal activities rather than working hard for a living.

US can, maybe cannot..Btw,do we have instances like that before??So far as I know,US is very strict(perhaps the most strict nation) on the issue of illegal immigration.

Media does hype on it -- otherwise Infosys would not have been the company it is today ! The Brand image of the indians (techies) would not have been possible...It is all media and nothing else.

Media hype doesn't convert Infosys into Microsoft. It helps but there has to be actions to back the hype up. The brand image of Techies was made first, then the media came in. The contribution and talent of Indians came into limelight by the actions of Indians in Silicon Valley. Its not like the media hyped and then Indians showed their technological talent.

Offshoring or no offshoring -- If bangladeshi's are getting jobs due to indian companies then this should be played up.

It is played up. Some Bangladeshi's still choose to ignore it. Others are indifferent about it.

No ones saying to ignore our people and help others. That is not the case here...The case is we already have co operations/business going on -- Tata's , BHEL..etc. Why not make best use of what is going on ? We dont need to go out of the way to help other people and ignore our own problems; my point is atleast make use of the situation in a better way.
A little good publicity in Bangladeshi and Indian media can do wonders for both country. For india-- in terms of more projects, more revenue...for bangladesh -- more work and exposure to complex technologies. When things like these are publicized and advertised .. good will is automatically created amongst local populace -- parties like AWAMI LEAGUE will not bank on the anti India agenda any more. They have to let go of that Agenda, they have to find some other Agenda to survive--its that simple. Ever wonder how Chinese have won hearts and minds of Pakistani people ? Good co operation -- Great publicity. Nike shouldnt be where it is had it not been for their amazing media campaign ....

They will always have an agenda. Border issues, fencing issues, water issues, religious issues. There is no dearth of it. India has to explain Bangladesh the consequences of all these activities. Pushing soft power hasn't worked for 40 years with Bangladesh. When Deepak Kapoor went to Myanmar during the Bangla-Myanmar tensions, Bangladesh shat in its pants and realized how badly it can suffer if it antagonizes India.

Nones talking of conversion to Microsoft..thats not the right analogy. I am talking about building a Image. Infosys would not have been well known had it not been for the media. Same applies here. India is doing good work -- we all know it is -- its time we build the image for the people to consume.

The brand image of Techies was made first, then the media came in. The contribution and talent of Indians came into limelight by the actions of Indians in Silicon Valley. Its not like the media hyped and then Indians showed their technological talent.

True you have hit the spot -- in a similar way -- India is doing or already has done good work for Bangladesh, time for some serious PR.

It is played up. Some Bangladeshi's still choose to ignore it. Others are indifferent about it.

Naa dont at all think so .... there have been few reports here and then !! But thats about it. As far as i am concerned the negative news between BDR and BSF is getting more air play than all of the positive news combined.

There will always be issues -- there are issues between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu also..But then these minor issues will never propel a party to win a National election. They have to find some other cause to do that -- If Awami League realises this, it will not pursue the anti india agenda baring one or two minor incidents. People like MBI has to ofcourse for him to sell his book, but the supporters will be less.

Build a fence all around the country...the parts of the US where the fence is up on the Southern border has seen illegal immigration levels plummet.

Fence and electrify..India is doing the right thing. Pity the morons in power in the US are not doing the same.

US has done quite a good job so far as its border with Mexico is concerned.

Lol..sometimes I think about it.USA is perhaps the country with the best locational advantages.A friendly nation up north, another friendly nation in the south, surrounded by two oceans on its two sides, with loads of natural resources in between.Win win situation all they way....

Surely you kid man...

Also the borders are peaceful today but they were not always peaceful. The peace was won through war in a way.

Nepalese cannot be considered as illegal immigrants. GoI allows Nepal nationals to hold any job in India, except for may be some government. For all purposes, Nepali nationals enjoy the same rights as an Indian national (except for voting rights and sensitive govt posts).

You are rite. One of the greatest decisions by the GoI. Nepalese are hard working honest people. But its also true that many of them are Indian national now.

Although a long overdue process still a welcome move.

But 7500 seems too low a number to make an difference. The GOI should start this process especially in Assam and WB.

The only difference betweeen Nepalis and BD ppl are Nepalis are legally allowed to work in India w/o a visa whereas BD ppl are not.

And Nepali ppl dont result in a demographic change like the BD ppl do nor they involve themselves in various under ground activities affecting the law and order.

So comparing Nepalis and B'Deshis is wrong.

Welcome bro.

Rightly said. There are differences between the Nepalese and BD people working in our country. Where the BD people stay they wants their own space and demographical changes in the society. Where the Nepalese associated themselves with Indian society. There are also poor people in India itself and these illegal immigrants only hurting those poor Indians most by securing the jobs meant for them.

But as I said earlier its also true true that many Nepalese got Indian citizenship illegally.
