Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Verily, Constantinople shall be conquered, its commander shall be the best commander ever and his army shall be the best army ever.”

Congratzzz

"Surely, Constantinople will be conquered; how blessed the commander who will conquer it, and how blessed his army."

By the way, this conquest was not only conquest of the city but the Roman Empire. Later European historians invented the term "Byzantine" to distance Eastern-Roman Empire.

Funny how West-Roman Empire was conquered by Huns and East-Roman Empire (centuries later) by Ottomans.

Germanic tribes conquered Western Roman Empire.

Conquered by the huns and then conquered and settled by germans and others. Technically the huns were just pillaging and that kind of stuff.

It was indeed a significant step forward for the Muslim cause after the 13th century destruction of Baghdad the Ottomans stood as guardians to the Islamic world. This also gives us a lesson that in order for the Muslim world to be stable today, we need at least one or two Muslim countries as regional powers.

Ironically, the European nations started to find another way to trade with Asia since the end of the Silk Road and thats how they discovered the New World and led to increase in power in terms of land and trade.

Discovery of new lands, establishment of colonies did benefit the Europeans greatly.
