ISLAMABAD: Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has appreciated the role of police in war against terror, Geo News reported on Thursday.

Talking to media after a ceremony in police lines Islamabad, Air Chief said that 45 F-16 fighter gets are being upgraded in Turkey. He added that new squadrons of F-16 and JF-17 thunder planes would be constituted in March.

He informed that PAF have 21 JF-17 thunder jets in final stage while nine are being manufactured.

Earlier, addressing the passing out ceremony as chief guest, Air Chief Marshal stated that sacrifices of police for the country would not go waste, adding that police and armed forces are fighting against the war on terror hand-to-hand.

He was optimistic that terrorism would be eliminated from the country.

16 are manufactured from feb 2010 to march 2010.

16 JFTs per year is a good speed.And from 2011 the production capacity will increase more

i guess its a mistake! 21 are the total manufactured and 9 are in progress.

21= 5 new + 16 jets of 26 Squadron.

and 5 new + 9 in process = 14

when they launched Sqd.26, it had only 14 jets. So new Sqd. is coming soon.

The US originally offered us 60 MLU upgrade packages, for the 32 remaining F-16s in service, and the 28 they were slated to deliver. Now it seems like we only get 45. They screw us on everything..

Navy requested six OHP frigates, they sell one, and even that's delivery is suspect, having undergone massive damage during it's refurbishing process in the US. Requested UCAV drones, they sell these predators to many other allies - and currently they've got on offer more sophisticated aircraft&military hardware to India, all we got was an offer for outdated UAVs, and even in that they are not being sincere and helpful - with the recent news reports that the contract for those shadow drones has encountered multiple snags and all.

And it's not like they're only crapping out on the agreements and deals we had with them. Right in the middle of our massive energy&power crisis, they're trying to hinder and publically sabotage our nuclear energy deals with China. While at the same time breaking every IAEA and NSG rule to sell India the latest nuclear energy tech.

I guess Turkey can sell the remainder non upgraded F-16's and old UCAV's to Iran or North Korea and develope better relationship with China and Russia. Join SCO and leave NATO. It will probably work out better for Turkey in the long run. What's the point sticking around and being mistreated and disrespected like that?

This might be a something that could introduced after some Jf-17 are exported but they should add robots to the production line, make things faster, it would also create a robotics demand in Pakistan.

It's not good that the US can shut down Pakistani Air force by stopping all spare parts exports.
