Pakistan can make a huge profit from transit charges.
or it may go to Iran and its new port.

No need to transit through pakistan, ArcelorMittal has big production in Kazakhstan.

Orissa has the largest bauxite reserve in india, still vedanta imports its bauxite from other states instead of niyamgiri mine,

India is going to import 70% more coal this year while it has abundant amount of coal..

thanks to our environment ministry:hitwall:

I agree with environmental minister... things are bad enough .

Thats what we thought about the LTTE and the Kachin rebels, in the end they did sting us.

What do any terrorists do?spread terror.

Well if Pakistan is bottle neck and disrupting their operation using terror. What would they do?

the deal will be more governed by political reasons then economic. i m sure if only economic reasons are taken into account no will be able to beat that offer.

:coffee: If Chinese do not buy the iron ore, what do those companies will? Transport from Afghanistan to Europe?
Other companies is intermediary, only we can give the best price.

Thats hwere u are wrong

U see two of the companies in this consortium ie ArcelorMittal which is also the Largest Steal Company in the world and Tata Steel which is the 6th Largest Steel company in the world
Both these companies have very large capacity in Western Europe , USA and Southeast asia apart from India
Also rest of the companies in the group are Major public sector company Like SAIL which is largest steel maker in India and GOI has authorised SAIL to play a leading role in nearly Trippling India's Steel output from 90 Million Tons at present to 250 Million Tons by 2020

we have a very large demand for steel , and indian companies would like to get access to cheap source of steel

:coffee: Are you sure that India need iron ore? Could you tell me how many iron ore India's annual imports?

Hmmm, and the Iranian would have no interest other than offering Indians a facility that would put the Iranian in possible jeopardy?? Friends lets make sense -- Transit fees? well, there's a no brainer, however, I was wondering if it might not be beneficial to have India invest that amount of money in Afghanistan and it's infrastructure, even as a trillion dollar investment in infrastructure alone needs to be made in India - Of course this would require similar investments in infrastructure in Pakistan, and those will have to be financed and managed - the securing and maintenance of such investments suggest that the international relations paradigm especially as Pakistan, India and Afghanistan seem to understand them, would not lend themselves to building the kind of multi-faceted supported system within and among these countries --- and that therefore, something would have to be crafted

Is Pakistan playing any role in this bid?

I have no knowledge of whether it is or not - most pakistanis have not a clue of this bid

:coffee:China's annual iron ore imports from India. It is shows that China needs iron ore, not India.
Do not compare with the China steel industry, you will not want to know China's steel demand.
