New Delhi: Aiming to fine-tune its war fighting strategies, India will hold a massive military exercise on its western front in Rajasthan in October-November.

As per a report in The Times of India, Indian Army's 21 Corps, one of the 3 strike corps, will be at the core of the exercise which will have armoured, artillery and infantry divisions taking part in it.

The exercise, reportedly, is primarily being held to practise swift, high-intensity attacks into enemy territory.

Importantly, Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag had recently stated that his force's operational strategy had factored in the need to be ready for "swift, short nature of future wars" with "limited warning time".

The TOI report further added that over 30,000 troops, hundreds of T-90S and T-72 battle tanks, artillery guns, rocket systems – all supported by satellites and drones, and airborne radars - will take part in the exercise.

The newspaper quoted sources as saying that Pakistan has been informed about the impending military exercise, as is the protocol between the two countries.

they do this once every 4 years to check war preparedness.

They are practicing their limited war under nuclear umbrella doctrine in Rajasthan. These exercises are war drills as well as pressure tactics. Last failed exercise was BrassTacks when Indian assembly dismantled after Pakistani deployment.
This is an annual occurrence- each year one strike corps will conduct such war games which not only consist of refining their training regimes but also of validating new technologies the IA is deploying such as satellite surveillance, BMS (command and control) etc etc

So each strike corps is engaging in such training/war gaming once every three years.

All professional militaries understand that training is the key to success.

This exercise is clearly postured against us Pakistanis. They are flexing their military muscle and it is a way of saying they are not scared of us.

India's exercises on westen front have been a great asset to Pakistan and military brass loves it

Operation Brasstacks??

What about Operation Shoorveer and Summer Exercise of Sapta Shakti where more than 50000 soldiers were involved??

I do believe Indian Army performs similar exercises in every year. Its nothing new.

Not at all. Pakistanis love to think India is as petty as them but in reality these exercises are an annual affair planned years in advance.
