3 bloggers arrested

I read the article. Its not clear who the powerful force the reporter is referring to that was behind this Shahbag circus. Is it India?

Its obvious that AL is now in trouble, the party have been branded as anti-Islam, because of its support of the Shahbag fiasco. Now they are in damage control mode.

But why would India do such a thing? Just to attack Islam in Bangladesh? They think they can reduce people's attachment to Islam with these kind of amateurish joke like Shahbag? Are they that stupid?

Looking at PDF Indians, it would not surprise me though.

Unless and until Awami League is dismantled, india will use Awami stooges to cause more destruction in Bangladesh. This article is narrowly focused because Hasina took inidians in her confidence instead of Bangladeshi interest and that will never change so long Awami exists. Even now Awami League is contemplating giving two oil and gas block to india WITHOUT bidding process.
2 IOCs to get 3 shallow-sea blocks without competition

According to the summary of the bid proposals, the ONGC submitted bids for exploration in shallow-sea block 4 and 9. The ONGC is the first Indian firm likely to be given two blocks for exploration in the Bangladesh territory.

‘Release bloggers within 24hrs’
Staff Correspondent, bdnews24.com

"Or else we will intensify our agitation," DU Bangla department Professor Rafique Ullah Khan said at a rally on the campus.

“Two months back, the younger generation set up the Ganajagaran Mancha to demand capital punishment for war criminals. They revived the spirit of the Liberation War and a non-communal Bangladesh. Their only crime was to have wanted to build a country free of war criminals and Jamaat.”

One of the arrested bloggers is a Dhaka University student. The arrests were made following demands to punish ‘atheists’ from Islamists operating under the banner of Hifazat-e-Islam.

Other teachers demanding the release of arrested bloggers include Robayet Ferdous and Fahmidul Haque of Department of Mass Media and Journalism, Mashiur Rahman of Department of Sociology, Shafiquzzaman of Economics, and Meher Nigar of Bangla.

Robayet Ferdous said the government had 'chained creativity and freedom of thinking' of the youth. “Answers could have been given in blogs if anyone was upset with writings, instead of answering by chains.”

Bangladesh had bowed down to fundamentalism, he said.

:omghaha:...........

Whenever I hear of the current government it has to do with arresting someone. Sometimes its jamaati's being arrested and at other times its bloggers. I think the Bangladesh government is trying to win a competition called "Which is the most inept government' though I believe Pakistan's current government can beat Bangladesh's rulers with their callous disdain towards its poorer citizens.

Awami League is a mafia party.

Blogger Asif Mohiuddin held

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Police arrested blogger Asif Mohiuddin at Segunbagicha in the capital on Wednesday, a day after three others were held for posting “derogatory comments about Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)” on the Internet.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police picked up Mohiuddin around 2:00pm, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (public relation) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The arrest came amid strong criticism over the government role, which many termed as “submissive”, following some radical Islamist organisations’ threat of unleashing anarchy if “atheist bloggers are not hanged”.

Many think the arrest would add further to the growing frustration of the youths and online activists, who have been agitating since February 5 demanding death penalty of war criminals, over the government role.

Asif lives with his sister in Segunbagicha since an attack in Uttara on January 13, said Nazrul Islam Mollah, deputy commissioner of DB.

On Monday, police arrested four members of Ansarullah Bengali Team, a newly-launched militant organisation, from different parts of the city ‘for attempting to murder’ Asif.

In an overnight drive on Monday, law enforcers arrested three bloggers, including a Dhaka University student, from different areas of the capital on the same allegation.

Hours after the arrest, they were each placed on a seven-day remand in a case filed for making disparaging comments about Islam and the Prophet.

Radical Islamist groups have been campaigning against the Shahbagh movement initiated by the bloggers.

Hefajat-e Islam, a so-called Islamist organisation instrumental to this end, will march towards Dhaka on April 6 and have threatened of non-stop shutdown and letting loose 313 members of suicide squad if the government obstructs its march.

Not just some.

Each and every member of this cult must be held accountable for this....debauchery....

We simply cannot take any chances to let any one them to go lose and corrupt parts of the young generation that'd ultimately divide and destroy the society of the nation.

first sign of a weak faith is when you try to silence dissent.

That maybe so. But then, is Bangladesh Norway or something?

People from other parts of the world make all kinds of disparaging remarks about Islam. And so too on PDF. But then, do we see Bangladeshis protesting to ban the Internet or something?

One can have and express their views, and so can secularists.

But do not go to the limit in which one would try to destroy people's beliefs and culture. That is what they were (and still are) doing. And that in a politically volatile and primitive nation.

What they did would have been fine in a Western or advanced nation. But doing it in Shahbag where it revolves around a complicated and sensitive matter is absolute and utter stupidity that proves how irresponsible and immature even the secularists can be.

:blah::blah::blah: go to Europe and Israel and deny holocaust. Yesterday an idiot in a bus started bad mouthing our Prophet, people told him to stop in a civilized way but then he started spitting the most rubbish crap ever. Guess what? people beat the **** out of him  you are free to have freedom of speech by discussing in a logical way but once you attack the faith of millions in their turf with hate speech then don't be surprised when you get a few hundred punches ;)
