2nd Pak FA prototype maiden flight pics

Waah yaar Sancho kahan se mila ye... ??//

Got this from BR, interesting....
Yeah i read that few days back, it was posted on this forum also and i had a doubt but nobody answered it, i hope you answer it.

The back ground intellectual property (IP) would not be shared by two countries but the foreground IP would be shared as there is an agreement to do so and also to give it to other countries with consent
Now this sound fishy...according to this i doubt we would be given the main technology and if thats true whats the point of spending 5 billion $ on FGFA, why not just buy single seater PakFa from them we could save that 5 billion or we could have purchased 50 more extra jets in that amount.

Nobody will purchase 25 billion $ worth of PakFa from Russia, they would have given us these techs even if we would not have decided to spend 5 billion $. I am now doubtful about this FGFA deal as not much is clear. Drdo should clear these new terms BIP and FIP, i mean what actually comes under these two ??/

But if FIP can be given to other countries then definitely we are not getting critical techs from Russians in FGFA project which will effect our AMCA project. Also our 5 billion $ would be a waste. Its true that we are not getting a better deal from this but still we could have got more if we would have negotiated properly.

I think it will be wiser to include Russia in AMCA after 2013-2014 when we would finally find out how capable is PakFa. Russians are also thinking about a medium category 5th gen and we could involve them in MCA but this time we would have the chance to be on the driver seat.

NEWS about PAK FA engines

Success of the first flight test of the Russian fifth generation fighter aircraft loaded a fair amount of optimism domestic expert community on the future of this project. But has not yet been solved yet, some key issues related to the final definition of a technical person PAK FA. One of the most important - in what terms and with what result will end the development of the second stage engine, fully meets all the requirements for turbojet for forward-looking machines. During the exhibition "Engines-2010" became aware of some new information characterizing the engine, which flew the aircraft, as well as the contours have been identified for future cooperation development engine of the second phase.

At the airport Flight Research Institute. Gromov in Zhukovsky near Moscow on April 8 from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, was taken first flight model fifth-generation fighter. After assembling the aircraft in late April - early May, will begin flight testing stage of design.

Recall the first time the PAK FA took to the skies in the Acceptance of production tests on January 29 this year. During this stage the stability and control of the machine, the work of its major systems. One of the major components of these flights was to check the functioning of the new engine. Despite the fact that the engine for the PAK FA repeats the scheme of the famous AL-31F, it is at 80 percent of new parts. This low-pressure compressor, combustor, turbine, installed at an angle of 30 degree swivel nozzle, high pressure compressor, a digital automatic control system with elements of distributed parameters and plasma ignition system. Operation of compressor does not cause much difficulty. As reported in the exhibition "Engines-2010" included in the chief designer of NPO Saturn SEC them. A. Cradles Yevhen Marchuk, responsible for creating the engine for the PAK FA, in the development of the turbofan, a series of measures to improve reliability and increase resource. This is necessary because the engine is more intense, has a higher temperature.

Plasma ignition system - new Russian engine. Until now, all ignition system to increase the altitude, the ability to run at an altitude turbojet used oxygen replenishment. She demanded the availability of the entire oxygen system on board, and associated infrastructure at the airport. When you create a PAK FA has been tasked to ensure oxygen-free starting. Plasma ignition system installed in the main combustion chamber and afterburner. According to Eugene Marchukova, know-how embedded in the very nozzle with a plasma system: it simultaneously with the application of kerosene organized by the arc plasma. It is also very serious know-how incorporated in the very ignition systems where it is necessary for a short time give a very high voltage.

Digital control system with full responsibility as applied in the domestic airplane for the first time. Hydraulic power packs are just the executive. As noted by Yevhen Marchuk, the exception of one redundant centrifugal regulator, which allows for the total elimination of all electronics, such as exposure to a nuclear explosion, to return to base at a reduced mode. Digital ACS is very mobile and flexible. Whereas before, the analog control, change control algorithm engine takes two or three months, now, this operation takes a few minutes, sometimes not even need to stop the turbojet. That is, as noted by General Designer SEC them. A. Cradles, fixing and debugging engine is much faster. This in turn leads to a tight schedule of testing new aircraft.

The engine of the first stage for the PAK FA is built on a completely conventional scheme. He, in particular, is devoid of such characteristic elements as the flat nozzle, available from a competitor of our car - F-22. However, according to Eugene Marchukova, work on the exhaust system are underway. At the stage production of technical documentation are the development of a flat nozzle and the reverse.

From the viewpoint of gas dynamics with a flat nozzle solid deficiencies, since its establishment must make the transition to the circular (the engine) on the flat. Loss of traction at the same time can be 5-7 percent. The advantage of only one thing - providing heat at the expense of closing the stealth plane turbine blades. This mode is limited: it is switched on for 5-10 minutes to overcome the enemy's air defense system. To solve this problem, such losses are acceptable. But the designers of "Saturn" trying to minimize losses of 2-3 percent.

These developments should be used during the creation of the engine of the fifth generation of the second phase. So far, the most likely candidate for the development of ideology and the layout of the turbojet was the "Saturn", which entered the structure of the United Engine Corporation. However, on 14 April the appointment of General Manager of the MMPP Salyut Yuri Eliseev, Deputy Director General of JDC adds a new touch to the situation around this very important projects.

On the second day of the exhibition "Engines-2010, April 15 at a press conference Yuri Eliseev reported on what has made" Salute "in upgrading engines AL-31F turbofan engines and with the creation of the fifth generation.

Terms of the tender to develop the second stage engine for the PAK FA, according to Yuri Eliseev, envisaged construction of two prototypes: "Yenisei-A" - "Saturn" and "Yenisei-B" - "Salute". The first stage of the contest, involving the creation of separate parts, was completed in November 2008 and the second, during which participants were required to submit demonstrators units, finished in June of 2009. "As for the" Salute ", - said director general of the enterprise - that is the conclusion of a commission composed of representatives from the Ministry of Defense, CIAM, and CRI-30 Defense, stating that the work was carried out in full at a level no lower than the world, the results are recommended for use in designing fifth-generation engine. As for Saturn, they shall, as far as I know, the second phase has not yet made. " By the third stage, the announcement is delayed from the third quarter of last year, KB Salyut engine preliminary design created the fifth generation, which according to the conclusion corresponds to the technical task.

The official statement on the appointment of RBC Yuri Eliseev, deputy director general of the corporation said that the concentration of efforts of the two major domestic aircraft engine structures both in management and in the production plan will solve many problems quickly and efficiently. In particular, we are talking about the project engine for the PAK FA, which has its own work and "Salute", and the company JDC, noted the report. As stated by Yuri Eliseev, "I have never had any doubts that the engine of the fifth generation can only be created through joint efforts. Funding should go through the JDC. The question is: what KB is an ideologue of the engine, who will assemble it and who will bear the responsibility, personal responsibility, with the result? This is a question of principle. KB should be selected on a competitive basis. " Achieved by designers of Salyut Yuri Eliseev results allow to assume that the lead in creating the fifth-generation engine has become that led them to the company.

Yuri Eliseev said that still does not know what range of tasks in the new location will determine his employer - CEO of JDC Andrei Reus. But according to his own idea in the JDC "Salute", in particular, should take an active part in the revival of enterprises of the Samara bush, which is composed of "SNTK them. N. Kuznetsov, OAO Motorostroitel and Samara Design Bureau of Machine Building (SKBM). There, according to Yuri Eliseev, there are problems with the manufacture and testing of new parts and assemblies in the "Salute" could help Samarans. In turn, General Director of "Salute" is very interested in cooperation on facilities for railway transport. According to him, "they have got very good result for the installation of up to 8 MW, have experience with liquefied gas. This experience we would be very useful. "

^^you are welcome.

They have already mounted the OLS-50 said to be next generation IRST but what is the behind canopy? Optical data link? IRST? Also note that the after burner.

May be aft looking IRST:cheesy: can be used as a feedback mechanism for controlling the thermal signature of engine exhaust. or targeting an enemy aircraft coming from behind:undecided::drag:. I think pakfa has back searching radars.

heard it was some kind of satellite communicator of that sort..

secondly engines looks too huge... i doubt it will be able to burry itself under the skin...

Yeah it most probably IRST, it needs for 360 degree coverage but could be something else as well. PAK FA has back searching radar which is also an AESA stationed between the engines.

SATCOM like that? Not possible. Its more like some optical/laser pod.

The silver part is the SATCOM, the one behind it is most likely an IR MAWS that gives a spherical coverage of the upper hemisphere.

Yeah, its the spherical thing I was talking about. It could be MAWS but the position is strange...

Not neccesarily, that's just a different way to achieve the same, either you use one centered systen like the Russians did on older bombers (was planed for Su 34 as well, not sure if they done it):
