28 Nato oil tankers set ablaze in Islamabad

The U.S. has been considering alternative routes into Afghanistan through Russia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, a dirt route via Wakhan through China and under current circumstances an inviable route through rivaling Iran.

There has been discussions and there was an agreement indeed signed at the April [2008] NATO summit in Bucharest between Russia and Uzbekistan with NATO for the overland delivery of supplies to NATO forces [in Afghanistan.

first of are they economically viable??, going through the remote places of central asia, and too much long land distance

Pakistan stopped the tankers from going through and did not protect them so Pakistan is responsible for there destruction. If fuel shortages get americans killed in Afghanstan, Pakistan is responsible. Pakistan is also responsible for getting their own people because they halted the trucks.

USA killed over 150 people in drone attacks in the last month, USA conducted 25 drone attacks in 29 days without knowing who is innocent/guilty, ALL on PAKISTANI SOIL, so don't rant about how pakistan is responsible when you're killing pakistanis everyday...

We have 1,800 troops in Afghanistan and multiple construction and training teams that help the Afghani people. Those supplies are needed by us as well. If you have a problem with the U.S. that is fine but these supplies are for the ISAF.

ISAF is the international security assistance force. In basic terms it is the NATO troop contribution to the Afghan effort. Turkey is currently in charge of the Kabul Command in Afghanistan. We are trying to rebuild the country and help these people. I obviously understand where Pakistan is at in this and what the exact intentions are. They had men attacked and killed by the U.S. and obviously it is understandable why they closed one of the routes. When NATO oil tankers are set ablaze though this is not a good reaction and will only cause more problems.

Which side you on because you can dream about the WOT being separate from pakistan but the fact is that it also involved Pakistan like it or not. Waiting out for this to all blow over then seek negotiations will not work.

which side im, well thats a pretty obvious question isnt it??, pakistan govt was putting pakistanis on negligence that the whole drone attack was justified, but after this event people will also question on nwhat bases the drone were first allowed on comprimiising our soverignty and than allowed to kill innocents..

second, turkish army maybe shameless enough to go beyond the iraqi border, violating the border securtiy, but remember pakistan is not iraq, if the nato does it again surly there will be sone grave lose on nato including turks involved.. i would hope pak army crosses the border like turks do and take control over the situation before this terrorism goes out of hand..

Jigs Pakistan is involved, it does not expect its personnel's and its civilians to be killed in that manner. I'm sorry Jigs if this happened in your country I'm sure the Turkish people will go up in arms
Or go up against the United states for jeopardising the War in terror.
Pakistan will do what it can to defend its people and sovereignty like any honest country would including turkey.

It won't help would it?... India has been facing attacks emanating from Pakistani territory for decades... and has even given ample evidence to prove it to the GoP... has it helped at all?... So even if US withdraws from AfPak... and god forbid any more 9/11s or 26/11s happen there is nothing the US can do.

India has been appealing Pakistan to stop terrorism from its soil.... but it wasn't until very recently that they are finally trying to get its acts clean. PA and GoP should be kept motivated to keep this fight on even if NATO moves out of AfPak.

You know why we do cross border operations into Iraq ? It is because the Iraq government has no say or no influence in the Kurdish region. They have their own government that operates their own army. This is where the PKK also operate (the Kurdish government there says we can't do anything about it ) So we move in and conduct operations.

Let me put it to you this way if a group of 100 terrorists attack a number of European targets and overwhelming evidence points to pakistan. At which point pakistan says we are doing what we can but if you try to conduct operations we will attack you too.


You can quickly see from the above the clash of sides here. Choices have to begin being made. On both sides. Does NATO or the U.S. take things into their own hands or do we keep doing what we are doing any risk more attacks ?

With Pakistan it has to do with with public opinion against operations there which have resulted in civilian deaths and that is certainly bad. But does Pakistan want to also paint NATO as a bad guy ? How far does pakistan want to flex its muscle and try to deal with terror cells in their country that want to attack western nations or if at all since they are now against NATO at that point.
