ISLAMABAD: Pakistani officials have informed an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi the details of training received at Lashkar-e-Taiba camps by the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks.

Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman Saturday recorded the statements of five inspectors of crime investigation department, who are prosecution witnesses, the daily Dawn reported Sunday.

They informed him about the training received by the accused, including Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, alleged mastermind, at LeT camps in Karachi, Mansehra, Thatta and Muzaffarabad.

Lakhvi, a resident of Okara district, is an expert in using improvised explosive devices. He also served as LeT commander in Pakistani Kashmir, the court heard.

The inspectors informed the court that some of the accused also trained at sea near Karachi's Gadap town, according to the newspaper.

The Federal Investigation Agency's special prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali told the court that the witnesses recorded their statements without any pressure.

Counsel for Lakhvi, Khwaja Mohammad Haris asked the witnesses whether they had witnessed the accused getting training at the LeT camps.

They admitted that they had never visited the LeT places or witnessed the suspects getting training and had relied upon the reports of informers.

Lakhvi's counsel said the witnesses had no direct knowledge of the involvement of his client in the attacks and had never shared their intelligence with the police.

"If they knew that Lakhvi or other suspects were involved in suspicious activities then why they did not put their names in the Fourth Schedule to limit their movement.

"The prosecution has fabricated a false story against the suspects and the statements of the five witnesses are part of that story," he alleged.

A total of 166 people died in the terrorist attack in Mumbai in November 2008.

Its obvious Pakistan wont hand over the terrorists it arms, trains, and sends over the border so they can purposely kill innocent Indians.

Its time other options were used in order to bring the Pakistani terrorists to justice for their crimes. I don't expect the Congress to do so. Perhaps If Modi becomes PM there will finally be some action taken.

What other options ? They all talk. Even Indian Human Rights group come for terrorists whereas don't pay any attention to families of dead soldiers and innocent civilians killed in these attacks. No one cares about them. That's the problem with our country.

No one in India has resolve of Golda Meir ? We need a leader like her.

This is not the wild wild west, where you have to clean the streets of scums with Guns, though that is what is needed.
On the basis of lack of evidence the Court of Pakistan can release him, it is in the best interest of Pakistan this a hole needs to executed extra judicially by its own intelligence wing, else he might try to do another 26/11 and this time it wont be lip service from our side.

It has recently come to the fore that two Lashkar-e-Taiba training camps, used by terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, were operating in Pakistan’s Sindh province.

Tariq Khosa, the former head of Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency who supervised the Mumbai attacks probe, shared some very important details about the probe of the attacks, saying that the agency’s sleuths have uncovered the two LeT camps at Thatta and Karachi, the capital of Sindh province. These camps were used by those involved in the attacks, he said.

Khosa was addressing a public hearing, the first such event organised by the Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production of the Senate or upper house of parliament.

The investigators also found the Pakistani boat that was used by the team of 10 terrorists to travel from Karachi to Indian waters, Khosa said. The boat had been repainted when it was traced but the original colours were found underneath, he said while speaking at the first public hearing organised by a parliamentary panel. The number on the boat’s engine had been tampered with by the militants.

Investigators used forensic techniques to ascertain the engine number and then found out that the engine had been imported into Pakistan, Khosa said. By following up these leads, investigators were able to find the shop in Lahore which had sold the engine, he said.

So shall we say terrorism is being abetted by Pakistan's Intel agencies like the ISI who are turning a blind eye to what's going on there and probably encouraging such training? Of course! Kayani himself mentioned to his American counterpart that these groups are his 'strategic assets'!

Well, the effects of encouraging these yahoos is there for all to see. It isn't easy riding a tiger which has the habit of getting out of control, as is happening now in Pakistan!

If you have little bit of commonsense than you must knew that the news is about case under trial in anti-terrorism court and in courts you need evidences to convict someone and i think you deliberately ignored following part or an Indian mind has manufacturing fault of not to comprehend these kind of text

Our courts don't hang peoples based on wishlist, I don't know about yours. But hey - You are still not able to punish one even after your court has given verdict......

Nothing has changed since 26/11. We stopped having relations with Pakistan. Why can't Indian govt. just remain indifferent and not allow any type of talks or games unless all the people behind those attacks are found and convicted.

I wish we had leader like Golda Meir. She knew how to take care of business when world fails to deliver.

Sir, a peaceful relation with our neighbors specially Pakistan is highly favourable to the entire growth and development of the region and specially at a time when there is multiple conflicts and a depressed economy throughout the globe. Pakistan though will never acknowledge it openly is looking at India to assume a leadership role and would like India's assistance in pulling it out of its problem and conflicts.

A peaceful bilateral relation will also help us in our goal to stabilise Afghanistan when Pakistan will be lesser prone to raise objections and might in fact assist in it similar to how they facilitated us to transit Wheat aid to AF.

Having said that the 26/11 trial conducted by Pakistan is a sham by way of how they are doing it and it conveys a wrong message all over. This is similar to the lack of investigations or arrests that did not happen pertaining to OBLs long presense in Abbotabad where no one was immplicated other than the doctor who actually helped in tracing.

Both these incidents and how Pakistan approaches them will define its relations with India and the US and probably with all other countries.

^ Buddy, if you look at my posts made earlier in various threads I have made same arguments you have said.

Point is we should also work out contingency plan if we can't achieve what you have proposed.

Kanha Karachi and Thatta orr kanha Mansehra and Muzaffarabad. ROFL

Our neighbours have the habit of turning blind eye to what happens in their backyard with numerous insurgencies and getting self satisfaction in dragging us to whatever happens in their home....
