200 USD Quadcopter shot down by 3 Million USD Patriot Missile

the same Israeli do everyday where their IRON DOME missile system target small mortars fired by HAMAS , i think one mortar cost about 200$
Israelis have low cost missiles for HAMAS rockets

. .
Could they not have just pointed their rifles and fired?
i don't really think a Patriot missile was a good match for shooting down a cheap quad-helicopter

There's a popular anecdote about US invasion of Afghanistan.
The Afghans would wire a few motorcycle indicators with batteries and scatter them around a mountain.
American jets would bomb the sh*t out of the mountain in a short time.
Afghans would go over, collect the steel, and sell it in scrap markets.
What an amazing business model!

This is good as it will lead to refinement of the Technology, radars will differentiate and use optimum resources to tackle the threat. And low cost solutions for smaller targets and threats Like Lasers and guided bullets/Shells will be executed.

Yeh, send in the SWAT teams.

Shoot a whole lot of Balloon Missiles in the air

Some sources say 10k USD, some say 40K, some say 50k and some say 100K.
The world needs an ultra low cost anti drone solution... Maybe something that could hunt em down for $400/piece... The system could cost half a million to setup though... big savings afterwards :p

Looks like everybody missed the point.

If the Patriot missile can hit a small target like a drone...

So what does that tell you ? That Afghans lives off American scrapped steel ?

, well just overwhelm the system with low cost drones. Economics will take care of rest of the stuff.
Here is where you are wrong...And probably will not make it in the military...

If you want to kill a tank, you cannot do it with a dart. You have to use a weapon that while is cheaper than the cost to build the tank, it is still expensive and sophisticated enough to make its manufacture beyond the reach of most people. Economics will give you that point and where no matter how many low cost drones you make, your target will not be destroyed.

If a low cost drone can only scratch the surface of the tank, ten low cost drones will produce ten scratches, one hundred low cost drones will produce one hundred scratches. All this time, the tank continues to kill.

Now...Let us say that one thousand low cost drones were needed to kill that tank, then why not produce a missile with the cost of those one thousand low cost drones ?
