What's new

20/TwentyWorld Cup.

what luck... eh ??? facing the aussies in the semis ......

anyways hope never dies..

P.S : R.P singh should have been man of the match

I like to see a Pakistan vs India finish!

True that we lose all the big tournament games vs India but defeating the Ausies twice in a row just sounds improbable.

1999 world cup we beat them too during the qualifying matches but when it came to the finals they came back with a vengeance and took us out 125.

I really though this would end up like the 1999 finish. Pak vs NZ in semis, Aus vs SA.

I just can't believe the hard luck against SA all the time. I really didn't want Pak to face SA in the semis (face it, best fielding side vs worst fielding side), so I was rooting for them initially, then started rooting for India, when there was a chance SA could lose with less than 126.

So we get NZ just as we wanted. Now we better not play like we played against Bangladesh. One of the advantages we have is that we get to stay at the Wanderers and NZ has to come there and play.

i thought india's goose was cooked when sehwag got out. i was so depressed that i stopped watching and went to study. when i came out again we were 133/4. Even then i thought we were gonna lose.

however, for me the victory was bittersweet. I am glad that india got through, but also very disappointed that SA, my 2nd fvorite team, got out. For me the ideal scenario would have been india winning, but SA also getting through.

Looking forward to the semis. Playing Aus will be very tough, but if we bowl like we did against SA, we stand a chance. Also, Aus' defeat by pak and Zim shows that they r not as lethal as they used to be.

But their 10 wicket win against Sri Lanka?

But with Ponting out of the tournament, Australia can crack up. We've seen that happen.

They should replace the ICC WC with the T20 WC as the real thing. Remember how everyone complained the ICC WC went on forever?

Their 10 wicket win over SL was dominated by a few players: the fast bowlers and the openers. The silver lining in that was that only the Aussie openers got to bat. the rest of the aussie basmen have been below par.

austrailia have a good team.they have variety of players. and they all are professional.professionalim does the trick for them.

Bad luck in W.C again for S.A. as usual. And good play from india.

afridi and M.Hafeez should open. There is no place for salman butt in the team.Razzaq was better option

Dhoni has just earned himself a new fan!! I just loved the way he batted yesterday...a really inspiring captains innings.

And the fielding!!.....the catching was phenomenal...the run outs and stumpings were all there....

The pitch was totally unpredictable.....ball swinging both ways, uneven bounce, and lots of movement off the pitch....but the Indian batsmen did it beautifully. The way SA batsmen got out really showed how unpredictable the pitch really was.

Overall a FANTASTIC game!!

RP Singh has really shined in this tournament. I don't know why Irfan Pathan's not being given the new ball though, he's a superior swinger in the Indian team IMO than say Sreesanth.

It's good they gave Afridi some feel for the new ball against Bangladesh. But remember Afridi's main weakness, the fast short pitched delivery that he whacks away into the air and it keeps going straight up. Bangladesh didn't have any fast bowlers but expect the Kiwis to lay that trap for him.

Asif doubtful for Twenty20 semi-finals

Pakistan were on Friday dealt a blow ahead of their Twenty20 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand with pace spearhead Mohammad Asif in doubt for the match with an elbow injury. :what:

The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Nasim Ashraf said Asif had sustained the injury during the net practice before the game against Australia and has been in pain since then.

"That is why he has looked out of sorts and struggled with his line and length. He has played because of the importance of the game against Australia but I think the team management should have given him rest for the match against Bangladesh," Ashraf said.

Asif has been in tremendous form in the tournament, took four wickets against India, and Pakistan has relied heavily on his early strikes and economical bowling in the championship.

Ashraf said Asif had played after taking injections but he was still not 100 per cent fit.

"The manner in which Asif bowled against Bangladesh he does not bowl like this even in the nets," he said.

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik also admitted that Asif was crucial to the team's chances in the event.

He said the lethargic performance against Bangladesh was a result of the players being tired and jaded after travelling and continuous cricket.

"But after one day's rest we will be back to our best for the semi-final against New Zealand. We have come so far and we don't intend to now go out without a fight," he said.

Malik said Shahid Afridi would continue as opener. "If he comes off it is good for the team so we have decided to try him as an opener," he said.
