This guy had a girl fan base in the 1970's far far far crazier than Justin Bieber's. It was totally out of control. He said every time he opened a closet in a hotel there would be five girls hiding in there. He simply couldn't get away from his fans. They pursued him relentlessly 24 hours a day.
It was insane. Girls would constantly rush the stage and start ripping his clothes. He had to have a line of security guards to protect him.
