PESHAWAR: At least 17 militants were killed and several others injured when Pakistani jets bombed militant hideouts in the Kurram tribal region during a security forces operation on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

The militants were killed when four insurgent hideouts were destroyed in the action in central Kurram's Tabay area. Moreover, several militants were also injured, official sources told DawnNews.

A military operation has been ongoing in central Kurram for past three weeks. Reportedly, at least 100 militants have been killed and several insurgent hideouts have been destroyed during this time.

Kurram, which is close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), governed by tribal laws. An extremist insurgency led by the Pakistani Taliban plagues the region while the area is known to be infested with militants, including those from Al Qaeda, Taliban and several other armed extremist organisations.

for almost 5-10 years the operation is still going on, and yet nothing is getting the results

the pak afghan border should be sealed and then any operation should be conducted under pak's own terms and not us terms. there in no way, this will carry on till eternity and there is no solution in sight

pakistan army the US lackey and pak government dont have any vision to solve this problem once and for all

it requires deep thinking and excellent strategy both of negotiations and systematic targets and not this hap hazard operation

we need to understand the FATA people are pakistanis like us and we are giving them living hell since one decade now? how will one feel if his home is under constant treat of military operations or terror insurgencies for one decade? FATA sis already a disolate place with no facilities infrastructure and we are bombing the shiz out of them since long time either with drone attacks or military operation

in the end pak will have to negotiate with the terrorists in the terrorists terms believe me or not

i see the FATA has totally exposed the so called mighty pak army and its strategy and it means that pak military is not capable enough to have a good dominating strength on western borders even today

@Awesome Saeenjee what is the difference if PAF kills 17 militants or if they die in a drone strike? How are we sure that all 17 were indeed militants no matter who killed them?

Fence the border with Afghanistan. Mine and patrol the hotspots where militants are known to cross over.
