Nahin yaaar genuine question hai - How can counterfeit currency be used as a weapon...I'm interested to know that ? What benefit would that accrue ? Yeh tou petty criminals agair kareiin tou samajhe lagtii but at State level kiyaa damage kar sakteiii hain hum apneii dushman koo isss seiii ?

These notes are of excellent quality and not printed by petty criminals, and why would petty pakistani criminals go to BD and Nepal with indian notes, they can simply print fake pakistani notes and distribute in pakistan and be rich :) Not to mention pakistani diplomats have been caught too.

Fake notes serves two purposes - 1) pakistan can buy people out and pay their terrorist assets with fake money - thus keeping cost to a minimum - 2), weaken indian economy by weakening indian govt's ability to exercise an effective monitary policy.

Its one of the smarter projects of pakistani state, one that is not likely to blow up in their own face, unless India can make it. And I hope we are working on that.

Paying the Assets makes sense & I suppose thats a good policy; I wish they expand on that more & with a lot more subtlety & ingenuity ! :agree:

But weakening the Indian State Bank's Monetary Policy would require more than a few million here & there - The sheer volume required to even make a noticeable dent would be enormous !

The succinct and super simplified explanation:-

Currency counterfeiting is a crime that continuously poses a threat to a
country’s economy and is a source of financial loss to its citizens. Some of the ill-effects that counterfeit money has on society are a reduction in the value of real money; and increase in prices (inflation) due to more money getting circulated in the economy – an unauthorised artificial increase in the money supply; a decrease in the acceptability of paper money; and losses, when traders are not reimbursed for counterfeit money detected by banks, even if it is confiscated.
At the same time, in countries where paper money is a small fraction of the total money in circulation, the macroeconomic effects of counterfeiting of currency may not be significant. The microeconomic effects, such as confidence in currency, however, may be large.
Failure to take significant action in combating counterfeiting can lead to uninsurable risk, which has a harmful effect on the reputation and functioning of a country’s central bank. Legislation in South Africa is being examined with a view to effecting improvements. There are at present two statutes in South Africa that regulate the counterfeiting of currency. Both Acts provide for punitive measures amounting to imprisonment for a period not exceeding fifteen years.

i aint no jamati. i dunno. ask khaleda zia, actual prime minister of pakistan. zardari was just her agent.

So an awami knows the deal was on offer but doesnt know why jamatis did not take the deal-

So some clowns from the Jamaat in Pakistan and their counterparts in BD are trying to create mayhem and instability? Why can't these bozos learn to live like peaceful human beings? But then they are brainwashed with an ideology that's regressive, dreadful and appalling!

The Jamaati Mullahs need to be be strung by their balls for spreading hate and revulsion in the name of religion. They think they are God's own messiahs sent to Earth to propagate their extreme ideology and establish a Jamaati Caliphate in Asia and rule the world one day.

The fake currency racket by Pakistanis is very active in BD and Nepal. India regulalrly captures fake currency on those borders.

Napal police regularly apprehend pakistanis with fake indian currency.

They even apprehended pakistani embassy staff with fake indian currency.

India must respond to this proxy war by pakistan with ANY means necessary. Its only fair.
All India has to do is to flood Pakistan with fake Pakistani currency until their economy goes bust! Not too difficult considering where their economy is heading.

But Indian policy makers don't have the balls to even think of it! :cheesy: We still follow the old outdated Gandhian principles. It's in our DNA. Our politicians are just Munna Bhais and will remain so till the next gen takes charge! :hitwall:

Shouldn't we be looking at hundreds of millions of dollars of counterfeit currency to even leave a palpable effect on the purchasing power of that currency ?

Yup, but even small scale damage can have localized effects. Not to mention if the quality of the notes is good then it may be used for funding some bad people. Every other month some fellow gets caught at the borders with some counterfeit cash- economic warfare is a low risk venture- lets see if we will get pro-active about it, retaliate in kind- maybe we already do. Far too obscure a battlefield to find any concrete details.

There are other ways to make a nation trying to punch above its weight pay a price, sometimes its the WB putting an Indian NOC requirement on certain projects other times its underhanded douchebagery. Proportionate retaliation is so passe anyway.

Bangladesh police arrest 4 Pakistanis with bombs, fake currency.
PTI | Mar 30, 2013, 05.16 PM IST

DHAKA: Bangladesh police on Saturday said they have arrested four Pakistanis and 12 others and seized 8 crude bombs and 12.9 million in fake Indian currency while the group was allegedly planning subversive activities.

"Other than the Pakistanis, we arrested 12 Bangladeshis including a doctor while carrying out our overnight raids in different parts of the capital," police spokesman Manirul Islam told PTI.

He said plainclothesmen carried out the raids on a tip-off while they also seized eight crude bombs and a huge amount of counterfeit Indian and Pakistani currencies.

Islam said the four Pakistanis, two of them women, were found to be part of a counterfeit currency clique, who provided the money to Fariduddin Ahmed, a leader of the radical Jamaat-e-Islami party.

"During initial interrogations they admitted that their counterfeit money was being used to regroup banned militant outfits like Harkatul Jihad-e-Islami (HuJI) and JMB (Jamaatul Mujaheedin)" after these groups had been neutralised in the past few years under a massive security clampdown," Islam said.

Islam said Ahmed was suspected to have masterminded major attacks on banks to use the money for buying weapons for militants.

Bangladesh witnessed massive street violence during the past two months over the 1971 war crimes trial with Jamaat-e-Islami leaders being the prime accused in carrying out atrocities while siding with Pakistani troops.

Law enforcement agencies have earlier said Lashkar-e-Taiba and several other extreme rightwing militant groups were still active in Bangladesh while they used its territory for transit to neighbouring India.

Security officials have also warned of militant groups generating funds for their operations by selling counterfeit rupees in India with the fake notes mainly being forged in Pakistan and carried to Bangladesh via Dubai.
