Even DNA shows we have conserved genes...How did that happen if you fell off a tree?
where would you place the inception of Adam and Eve in a timeline?
Because we have Dinosaurs, we have ice age animals (wolly Mammoth)
And we have groups of people who have developed over the years in geographical isolation for tens and thousands of years.
My opposition to religion is that some of them act like they are the be all and end all of all philosophical quandries.
One of the things that makes this world an interesting place, is it's sheer diversity. And one of my major axes to grind against evangelical religions is that they reduce diversity and enforce uniformity. I can understand why Islam or Christianity is important, because it provides a sense of belonging, identity and comfort.
But what I don't like, and this is a criticism of the New Age Atheists like Dawkins and Sam Harris is that they act like self righteous know it alls, who think they have the answer.
I hope for a long, long time the story of our creation, the story of our afterlife remains a mystery. No one knows the answer. The Christians don't know it, Muslims don't know it and Atheists don't know it and the Hindus don't know it.
Many great works of art, many questions that dogs the mind of great scientists and thinkers have been due to this. And I hope as a species we remain humble, and keep searching for the answers as always. Any religion, or any philosophy that claims they have all the answers and how to live life for every Human being is a disappointing thought.
