12 Things Only Biryani Lovers Will Understand

HA - so we meet at another food thread! I think you must be a foodie like me . :p:

Sorry bro I don't know of any place in Hyderabad, actually coastal regions do the best shrimp biryanis. My recollections are mostly from what my mother used to make, once every month or so for Sunday lunch. I think it was a coastal Malabari recipe. It was served with pomegranite raita and nimbu paani. In summers followed by fresh ripe mangoes or sometimes lychee. Then tea or coffee in the sitting room if the match was on ! That was the life man!

Seafood platter and khubuz sound really good. I like ME food actually. It is more simple and straight forward than ours and at the same time quite delicious.

Eating is my first love :D

I have visited almost every state in India and have tried local specialities. And the best part is that i eat almost everything.

I like Mezze a lot and the Grilled Pita sandwiches with a local cheese ( i forgot the name but it looks like bocconcini and tastes as salty as feta ).

In desserts i like baklawa/buklava ( labanese version not the turkish one ) :)

I hear you - I think eating is my first love and deepest love ! :p:

I eat everything too - I have had raw meat : steak tartare. Raw fish - sushi / sashimi . Ripe, stinky mouldy cheeses , oysters, there are few things I can't bring myself to touch - one of them is octupus - I just don't like the look of the b*ggers - something about all those legs with suckers - yuk. Also I will not eat pigs ears which is very popular in Spain - they serve it with almost everything but - yuk all that cartilage - I can't put it in my mouth ! I have had Greek baklava but never Lebanese or Turkish, I didn't know there was a difference.

I have travelled north, south and west of India not much in the east unfortunately but I want to go . I looove dabba food - a most memorable meal was in a tiny dabba in Rajasthan in the middle of nowhere - hot roti and dal slathered with lots of fresh butter and a kind of sabzi they make with gram flour dumplings ( I forget the name') - it was sooooooo good, just sitting on wooden benches while the owner served us and his grandma was sitting on a charpoy in the sun just staring at us the way that some rural folk do! Its a shame that these places are slowly getting replaced by interstate highways and sterile "food villages".

Gram flour dumplings. . . Was it Besan ke Gatte ki sabzi ?? :D

Or Besan ki kadhi may be ??

But they use curd also for kadhi so its gatte ki sabzi i guess.

North eastern cuisine includes loads of pork , bamboo shoots ( both fresh and fermented ) dishes. They also eat a lot of fresh water fishes. And then they have local varities of peppers and mustard which they use a lot.

Yes, besan ke gatte - that's what it was. Little cylindrical dumplings in a sauce with lots of home style ghee.

I have had momos in Delhi. I hope to someday visit the NE states and try the real deal.

Dhungar tikka masalay ki yaadein choro. Jinnay Lahore ne vekhaya, unay khota ne kad'aa.
LOL

On topic: Any reasonable Pakistani will admit that Yahkhni Pulao is better than Biriyani, except for our friends from Karachi. Magar wakay Pulao, hazar dafa zyada lazeez hain biriyani se.

I would take a pulao over biriyani any day, and I used to be a big fan of biriyani in my childhood, with the spicy raita.

If I have to kill one person everyday, for today it would be you. :p
It pisses me off to read this "Jinnay Lahore ne vekhaya, unay khota ne kad'aa."
Poray Pakistan main to Jaise sare halal kha Rahe. :p

When one thing becomes trend people blindly follow and some just to look cool. Though Briyani can't beat pulao. And as per Karachitties un Ke to Kia he kehne. :p

I don't want to get attacked right now by them.
