The 112 feet tall bust of ‘Adiyogi’ Lord Shiva at the Isha Yoga Foundation has been declared the world’s largest bust by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Guinness had made the announcement in its website.

The bust at the Isha Yoga Foundation on the outskirts of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24 this year.

The face of Adiyogi, set up by the Isha Foundation led by spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev, attracts thousands of people every day, a press release said.

“It is 112.4 feet high, 24.99 metres wide and 147 feet long, as verified on March 11, 2017,” it said.


The bust refers to source of Yoga and symbolises the 112 methods of self-transformation that the first Yogi or Adiyogi (originator of yoga) offered, the release said.

Isha Foundation plans to set up three more statues of similar height across the country.

This is the second time the foundation had accomplished a Guinness record.

On October 17, 2006, the foundation had entered the Guinness Book of World Records for planting 8.52 lakh saplings, the release added.

Noone cares whether Shiva was black like a Dravidian or fair skinned like Pakistani.

All of it is artist's imagination. In south, many temples portray Shiva with big mustache.

When it comes to spirituality, God's physical appearance dosent matter. There is no guaranteethat Jesus looked exactly like what is portrayed in pictures. Some say Jesus was black to wheatish.

What matters is, whether you are able to connect to God or not. Even Muslims who dont paint picture of Allah or Muhammad, have pictures of Kaaba in their houses. Its also symbolic attachment to something physical in nature.

As sadguru said, It took two and half year to design this statue and took just 8 months to construct it. It is of 112 ft lang because of some 112 types of yoga. The mahashivratri program at Isha foundation was unique and unforgettable. Sadguru has a target of teaching yoga to about 100 million people in next one year.

There is nothing known about his color but when the sea was churned, lots of good things emerged out. All took something. When the highly dangerous poison emerged out, everybody got scarred and wonder what to do. They went to loard shiva and ask him to drink poison. Loard shiva consumed it and kept it in his neck. So his neck became blue because of poison and that is why he is called neelkanth (Blue necked).

I asked because I saw only blue and white male deities and black female deity.

There are black color images too, you can google it easily. Two of the most revered Avataras of God viz Rama and Krishna were dark complexioned.

Appearance of a God changes according to people.I read some book in the past where they're suggesting that Hindus might belonged to Ethiopia or somewhere around that place who migrated to Asia.They're suggesting it because what they thought,Vishnu idols they excavated looks like African male.They claimed that over the time,appearance of gods has changed.New gods were added.

Shiva's best looking Avatar was "chandramauli". When shiva went for marriage in his yogi dress, his mother in law got very upset eih the look of the bride of his daughter. Then Loard visnu preapred him for marriage look and he said that this look of shiva shall be more handsome that any of his incarnation of loard vishnu.
