What's new

1000 years old mandir - Manora , Karachi

Karachi was a small fishing port with huts and one Talpur fort when British conquered in 1839. There were no stone buildings. The Temple may have existed as a shrine and the stone structure was built after 1839.

Dude there is a Sphinx in Balochistan too.

Why do you think people can build the biggest graveyard in asia just kms away from here without a trace of civilisation?

The Mandir is a Legit as per GoS.

That "sphinx" is carved by wind and rain, sits atop a mountain about 155 miles from Karachi on the Makran Coastal Highway.

Yeah Pharonic winds.

Did you see the Angkor video? The similarities are amazing.

Instead of this new color scheme and central asian style of restoration, we should get someone from Cambodia to really restore it to originality.

Sadly Sindh government may invite Mubarek Hussein Patel for the job for all we can predict based on historical behavior

thanks @ghazi52 for posting such a wonderful thread. salute.

its upto this generation of youth who need to preserve what is left off. please be kind enough to post about other temples as well.
thanks again

Manora could have been the sister city to Angkor. The architecture gives away the similarities.
Actually the Angkor Wat temples were heavily influenced by south Indian Chola, Pallava and Chalukya architecture,
which is not surprising as some of the medieval Khmer kings were related to the south Indian royal families.

i would believe you if you can show me this masonry knowledge still exists with you

Here is a Chola temple built 100 years before Angkor Wat
1024 × 768
Here is a Chalukya temple
1600 × 1052

The similarities to Angkor Wat is obvious

I asked you a simple question magic boy. Does India have stone masons who can still make these?

if the answer is No, do not bother coming back to the thread

A very stupid question, how do you think modern temples are built

Do you believe modern temples get carved out of solid rock like it used to be 1000 years ago?

you cannot polish these statues with precision. stop thinking about masonry

The 2000 years old monuments degrade and are also destroyed by weathering or enemies. Nonetheless this mandir post 1839.

No it's not. Stop scaring people

Probably the color is similar. Khmer architecture is a lot different. They also worship different deities. And Angkor Wat is an entire ancient town.

Nice of the Govt there to preserve this.
