Sometimes the US does some horrendous things ; but at the same time does some excellent work to help nations.

Cant understand them

If they refuse to help Japan, then it gonna ask China for help.

Then remember the Marshall Plan post WW 2, It was the brain-work and handi-work of an army Gen. George Marshall, and it helped to put Europe (notably Germany) and Japan back on their feet.

Where is the US during the Sichuan earthquake which had claimed the lives of 300,000 civilians including 100,000 children? Chinese coastal regions have also been hit by the same earthquakes killing hundred but western media has remained silent on this. Does the life of a Japanese more important than that of a Chinese moreso of Chinese children? Thats the question. Besides why sending two ACs again according to CNN? The F 18 would be used to drop aid to the stranded civilians? or the nuclear weapons onboard the ACs be used to stop the leakage from the Japnese nuclear power plant? or just to bully and pressure China? or another military exercise off the chinese coast? The motives of the US in always sending their military and WMD is really suspicious. Japan actually has territorial conflicts with all Asian nations including Russia over the Kurils, with Korea and Taiwan. What about the civilian atrocities committed by the Japanese imperial war criminals during world war II? Its high time that the Lahaye tribunal give an order of arrrests against all the US soldiers having deliberately killed civilians in Iraq and Afganistan and against the Japanese Imperial war criminals. This tribunal has to judge all war criminals not only African and Serbs war criminals. Hope one day Japan would apologize just like Germany did thousand of times and that the US would stop giving asylum to these Japanese Imperial War criminals and their desents. The apology will trigger a new era of friendship in Asia. Bullying, accusing and targeting China will lead to nothing! By the way what does Sharon Stone has to say over this earthquake? Chinese shall never forget what she had said for the Sichuan earthquake.

Its called Public relations , a 1 billion spent in Japan will give US alot of support on other "US interest matters" down the run its a strategic move on part of US , as there is growing resentment of US bases in Japan just positive PR

Ah, the "Why would you send an aircraft carrier?" diatribe.

  1. No other ship can get to the scene of a disaster faster with as many assets.
  2. The aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan is a self-contained airport that can provide air traffic control to many other aircraft than it can carry, providing safe separation for air rescue efforts.
  3. The aircraft carrier carries a number of very capable airplanes and helicopters capable of search and rescue, medical evacuation, and relief supplies deliveries.
  4. The aircraft carrier has a 55 bed hospital with a 3 bed ICU to treat injuries.
  5. The aircraft carrier can provide power to the dockside if it can find an undamaged one.
  6. The aircraft carrier can provide hot meals 24 hours a day for thousands of people more than its crew.
  7. The aircraft carrier can provide clean water from its own desalinization plant for many thousands of people.

There is are also two assault ships, the USS Essex and the USS Boxer, which carry eight to twelve helicopters/CV-22 Ospreys each, with amphibious vehicles and almost 4,000 Marines to assist in disaster recovery, search and rescue, medical evacuation, etc. Theses ships have bigger hospitals than the USS Ronald Reagan and the same sort of air traffic control capability. With them will come 5 more amphibious operation support ships which can provide over the beach support and landing craft and the USS Blue Ridge a command and control ship that should already be at sea after loading a humanitarian assistance/disaster relief package in Singapore over night.

Not bad for a bunch of "war criminals," is it, you hateful racist.

The United States offers this sort of help whenever and wherever there is a natural disaster, whether the country(ies) affected are their allies or not. However the United States does not force their help on anyone. Thus when earthquakes devastated parts of China, the Chinese government refused all offers of help, to the detriment of its people.

Maybe in your world helping people is such tragedies = PR. US helped Pakistan in its earthquake, fully knowing the ungrateful mullahs and probably much of its citizens would say its a covert CIA/ MOSSAD/RAW action.

You can try your best to attack the US on this issue- but fact is you can't touch the hearts and minds of the americans when it comes to helping out in such times. Watch how the americans will pour their wallets for Japan, in the coming days, while going through tough times themselves.

I just donated to red cross -- did the thought even cross your mind? yeah...I know US bashing was taking up your time...

US and Europe will have a concert bringing in millions for aid- have other efforts to galvanize people to help out. what will your countries have? --- pffftt .

Come On guys it's really tough times for Japan , and here people are counting war crimes and PR system. BE HUMAN and stop this BS for god sake..we all are humans first , Today it's Japan ....next can be anyone..god forbid but these things are not in our hands . We all should be together and hope for the best for the people of Japan .

from CNN one more comment i would like to quote here ...

Comment of the day: "There is no such thing as earthquake-proof, but when it comes to preparedness, no other country is more prepared for an earthquake than Japan. While it is tragic, I am sure their efforts have saved thousands, if not more." --iThoughtS0

I am Japanese and living in Tokyo. Thank you very much for your kindness. Now we are in chaos but do appreciate American's kind help and thoughtfulness. Those kind hearts almost make me cry with gratitude. Thank you all, again.
