Its shocking but a reality even today. Its so easy to find out the sex of your child either directly or indirectly (via different levels) from one doctor and go for an MTP from another.
There is only one solution: Ban female MTPs unless it is medically proven that continuation of pregnancy is a risk to the physical health of the mother (not "mental" as is there in the current MTP Act, 1973) or in cases of rape.
Unmarried pregnancies is another loophole which needs to be closed off once and for all.
Daughters are God's gift to man. Little angels. And more often than not the ones who take care of their parent's in their old age, no matter how much we sons/men would like to protest. I just cannot understand how we do this as a society.
What are we going to do about Dowry? What are we going to do about the fact that so called "modern" men and their families still do not want brides more educated or qualified or earning more than them? What are we going to do about the second-hand treatment girls get at all stages of their life in large swathes of our society? Be it equal crack at education, or expense incurred on healthcare, or basic clothes, or even food on a daily basis (yes, shocking but true)?
Cheers, Doc
