It's good that you and I have this option, but Muslims don't have that choice since they're pretty much required to eat halal meat, so I guess to them a little animal suffering is not justification for not being allowed to follow their belief. The burka is a different matter.

Well China's naval build up has slowed down somewhat lately. There's the new aircraft carrier project and type 54A frigate production, but nothing major happening with the destroyer and submarine fleet compared to the early noughties.
Hopefully it will become operational as it seems like a big waste of resources just to use it for training. In fact I don't think any existing countries use any of their aircraft carriers for training only.
