Aamir Khan's Dangal earns Rs 75 crore in China during opening weekend

Not Baahubali 2, Aamir Khan's Dangal holds the record for the highest opening for an Indian film in any foreign market.

Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal has set an opening weekend record for an Indian film overseas, by raking in Rs 75 crore in its first weekend in China, where it released across an estimated 7,000 screens on May 5.
The film made 80.56 million Yuan (Rs. 75 crore) at the Chinese box office, a record for an Indian film. Its takings in China have even bested Baahubali 2, which recorded an extraordinary opening weekend performance in the US, where it brought in Rs 67 crore ($10.4 million).
Dangal also recorded the highest Saturday to Sunday increase at the box office of 30 per cent.

The film has garnered rave reviews in China, with a rating of 9.8 on the widely used online ticketing service Maoyan.
Aamir Khan's popularity in China has helped its success, with the star meeting thousands of fans during a week-long promotion tour in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu last month.
Aamir Khan's PK crossed Rs 100 crore in China, a then-record for an Indian film in any foreign market, which is now set to be bested by Dangal - all the more remarkable for a market where, unlike in the US and UK, there is no sizeable Indian diaspora.

@Mr.Nair why are you tagging me? I have never watched Indian movies before. (only supa powa 2030 and a few dancing parts of Bollywood productions on Youtube) Personally i have zero interest in Indian movies HOWEVER it does not mean i consider Indian movies are crap. I know some Hindu in the past accusing me of considering Indian productions are garbage which i immediately slammed hard by telling him i hardly have time to watch all kinds of foreign movies. If i don't watch Turkish, Viet, Indian, Arab, African movies or from other countries does that automatically mean they are garbage? I only watch some Hollywood, Chinese movies nowadays other than that i don't have any opinion regarding foreign movies. But i do have to say the weird dancing recurring theme found in Indian movies make it even less appealing to my own taste. If there are some small fan base from China then good for you

What pain are you talking about? I know Indians are butthurt that it only got a small fan base from China other than that it's no where near Hollywood scale. I understand your pain that Indian movies are not as popular as American or even Chinese movies but at least you guys are trying hard. When i ask my Chinese friends to name one Indian movie star, nobody could name one. When i ask Indians have you ever watched a Chinese movie before and name me some famous Chinese actors/actresses the Indians could easily name dozens

The ONLY actors Indians can recognize is jackie chan and jet lee because they work in hollywood ...

Most chinese looks the same to Indians. I doubt if an average Indian will be able to tell apart one actor from another. And I am not even trying to be a racist.

I know Indians have eye sight problems, can't blame you for that because drinking ganges water can cause lower brain functions. It's alright the Indians i know are not from India but born in Western countries so they can name more than Jacky Chan or Jet li
