Iran turns its back on Russia and China with own battle tank

I've always been impressed with the rate of improvement of Iranian military hardware, even if they are very much anti-Chinese I still respect their ability to advance their weapon systems like this.

@Chinese-Dragon You are getting it aaallll wrong here. Iranians are not anti-Chinese by any stretch of the imagination. Hell, we aren't even anti-American (but against their policies in a big way). You should know well the Iranian-Chinese cultural relationship, Silk Road being an obvious instance.

Politically Iran and it's government want expanded relationship with Russia and China (though I'd probably say China more). Iran, as an anti-Imperialistic state, wants to cooperate with other anti-Imperialistic states like China and Russia. Otherwise the Americans will try to isolate us.

What Iranians here are saying is that try as we might, this feeling does not seem to be mutual. While there is of course economic relationship, this is not enough. Iran has a great economic relationship with Europe as well. Economic relationship is only for making money. Iranians want to see deep strategic and military cooperation with China & Russia, but as @yavar and @SOHEIL have pointed out, China and Russia both (to varying extents) have in recent history shunned this sort of cooperation, which is why they are sceptical.

Is it only me or does the tank (especially the polished metal cladding) somehow look very vulnerable?!

I think it's only you.

It looks so thin

What part of a tank looks thin??? o_O

Most Chinese think Tehran is very close friend, but it seems not here.

We will not halt importing oil from Tehran, we hate Yankees. We will do the opposite way they ask us to do. USA is a bully, China shall rise to defeat it.

Two things:

1. These are the most nationalist Iranians that you are seeing. The liberal ones are more pro-west.
Don't do the mistake of dismissing their opinion.

2. Oh, come on, every major power is a bully. The Vietnamese, Filipinos, Koreans and a host of other countries think that you are bullies.

You say they are businessman , and that's right , they are just caring about maximize their profit and ll of their relation with Iran is base on this , so I won't tolerate some Chinese come here and act like boss for us and put debt on us ...

They have no place to talk about supporting Iran , they sell and get their money ... and they sign almost all resolution against Iran as well ...

Russia is not our Alley , they don't consider Iran as their ally or even their friend ( friendship just a concept that we care about in foreign affairs while their is no friendship in real world politics ) ...

China seek its own interest and they are not our friend ...

Idiot like you are in power and take decision base on imaginary Strategic alliance with Russia and friendship with China ...

Just like what they did in Bosnia , Sudan , Djibouti , Afghanistan and .... and now , look at the result ...

Thats why I believe we should have nuke ...

@haman10
just learn from your Chinese friends .. even your imaginary friend don't believe in friendship ... you naive

Well said Amir,I agree with virtually everything you have stated, but I would however take slight issue with one thing, russia and china havent just shunned strategic cooperation with iran,on several occasions they have actively collaborated with the west against iran, the most glaring example of this was both russia and china actively supporting and cooperating with the west in its sanctions/economic warfare over irans nuclear program.

We had access to T-90SM ...

Reverse engineered !

It was the fastest and cheapest way to have a new tank !

Without dependency on other countries...

the main purpose of this Karrar is to have capable tank against any ISIS like threat ( we have 500 T72 that we can upgrade to Karrar Standard ) ..... against our beloved neighbor , we should have a good airforce in first place or these will become target practice ...

نکته ی جالب کرار اینه که باعث می شه در آینده بتونیم نفربرهای سنگین بسازیم

we should make a platform just like Russian Armata body and use it for Tank , Howitzer and etc ...

Wow, that was easy wasn't it?

You had access to the system, you dissected it and voila! in comes Karrar. How convenient.

BUT, where did these parts come from?
2a46M-5 gun (tank shown in the video had this gun)
fire Control system
Optics and thermal imagers
Composite Armour (not the reactive armour, Iran makes its own at home)
Turret design and developement technology

What do you mean !?

First of all this is 2a46M not M-5 !

& we can mass produce them locally...

Almost all of optics & electronic systems made by SAIRAN !

& making that turret is not a big deal for us !

Maybe you don't have any idea about Iran's industrial capabilities...

Because in global media we are just a bunch of Nomadic people !

2a46M-5 gun

Actually this is not the case. We thought it had similarities to the M-5 version, but the same M-5 version has similarities to the M version Iran got over a decade ago in a T-72 local production deal.

fire Control system
Optics and thermal imagers

Iranian.

Composite Armour

Iranian.

Turret design and developement technology

Whats so hard about turret development technology? They were inspired by the T-90 turret, doesn't mean it is an exact copy nor just imported.

Thanks for reaffirming my point that it is nothing more than an upgraded t-72. Here is why:

it has no 2a46m5, rather the standard 2a46m main gun.
You didnt realise that it has the same old optics, look again, just the external unit is modified.

Only a naive person can say that turret is no big deal. It is not about shape, rather the materials used, refining and enhancing hardness of used steel as per Brinel standards, and use of electroslag remelting process and techniques.

http://www.engineersedge.com/hardness_conversion.htm

Now, what is the BHN strength of turret steel used in Karrar mbt and does it use ESR welding techniques? If not, it is just a glorified t-72 nothing more.

As for fire control, adding fancy displays is all that you guys have done. Without t-90MS's Kalina fie control system your tank is,well, a modified 72 at best.

So, now do you agree that Karrar=upgraded t-72?

By the way, after seeing this:
http://www.wired.co.uk/article/qaher-313 , i realized your industry's actual capabilities.

All hail iran.

lol t-90ms is an upgraded t-72

pakistani iq at work here

@Raghfarm007
His father is zimbabwan (mugabe made stronk industry), so don't pay attention to his trolling.

dont pay attention to truth that iranians only have 1 nobel prize (peace) out of 80 million while the dutch have 20 out of 17 million LOL!

Nope, the t-90MS, the one on which your karrar is modeled, is pretty much a new tank.

As for IQ and nationality, i suggest you to avoid these irrelevant idiocies.

You're in no position to tell me what I can and can't do. You're posting in a thread that I am involved in and I will reply if I want. And I''ll ask again, stop wasting thread space because you're not actually contributing to the thread and instead seem to be flame baiting.

I asked legitimate questions, if you have answers, bring them, if not, pour some water on your head and stay out. Quote me once more and get reported.

What legitimate question? Ask questions properly and don't make flame bait comment and maybe, people would answer your points. So what are your legitimise question? About tank gun? what?

I think I wasted enough time with you. You're obviously not interested in a proper discussion.

Just correcting you fanboys that karrar is not a t-90ms beater or even its analog.

Refer to post #300.
