Meet Owj: Iran’s First Indigenous Fighter Jet Engine

I have one question though since any news coming out from Iran has been doubtful in the past?

DOES IT WORK? Or its just another Qaher like stunt? No offense meant okay?

The engine is 100% certified real, but the jet that will be built around it, is in question.

Owj ("Zenith") project appears to be reconditioned General Electric J85-GE-21 series turbojet, involving the use of some parts manufactured in Iran and some available as aftermarket parts. This is a necessity, given the lack of access to GE Aviation factory support.

Iran continues to seek out purchases of J85-GE-21 series turbojets and parts on the world market, as well as by means of subterfuge here in the U.S.

Greater claims of "indigenous design and manufacture" for the Owj project appear intended to serve political purposes.

For a country that used to import even a toothbrush before, Iran has been making giant strides in industry and indigenously produced components. Recently, on the country’s Defence Industry Day, President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, had unveiled the first domestically produced Turbojet engine “Owj” (Zenith), in a prestigious ceremony attended by press officials, industry experts, and scientists of the nation.

(The video attached has demo of live running of engine in wind tunnel or testing facility )

This is a project that if funded properly would have been completed over a decade ago!
Iranian F-4's & F-5's have been flying with engines that were 60-80% built in Iran for years now! And that % has increased year after year till they got to 100% and now that it's at 100% they call Iranian reverse engineered J-85's OWJ

This is early 60's era technology before computer assisted industrial robots even existed!

The video below was taken well over a decade ago

It's probably real, but its reliability is probably extremely poor at best. I said this before, making an engine isn't hard, making it reliable is what stops nations from pursuing their own engine program.

It doesn't matter what you think !!!

Buy pampers !!!
You can make fun of him all you want, but it's like a mouse telling a lion that the lion is smaller than him.

The US is the strongest military and technological force in the world, and for a good reason; It has no need to be jealous. The US sets the trend, and the rest of the world, including Iran, is playing catch up.

Well it seems it is suppose to be a entry engine for Iran
I think the video showed the engine actually running and firing demonstration

Well I saw some news on net about Iran about to taxi/test another local brand jet , then I found some story about locally manufactured engine mile stone

I think the next goal likely would be a demonstration of the jet engine in a light jet / UAV

The manufacturing of Local Engine enables Iran to move from this

However the engine appears to be much larger in length

They might be an undeclared stealth operator

They already mastered the smaller solutions quite some time ago
Already in serial production

Could be .....an undeclared asset scaled up / stealth delivery system

Plus armed drones , they already mastered the conventional drones some time back

Obviously one of the older solutions which was armed well

Only in your opinion. USA is strong only in her boundaries in it's own continent but in west Asia, we recognize them equal to us. They are cowards hidden behind NUKEs and don't doubt we have prepared thousands of coffins for their soldiers to send them back to their families. You may tell me they have ICBMs, it's true but why should you think that USA is not in our range?! While we have sent light satellites into orbit!!! Don't underestimate our missile capabilities. And don't expect us to appear in media shouting "we have USA in our range". It will give them a good excuse to surround us by THAAD.

Yeah as i said, only within it's own continent.

I cannot deny their technological superiority to other countries but in the meantime they are not unrival at least in Persian gulf they already bowed to us. hahhah uncle Sam a humiliated clown in our territorial waters.
Crying marines and special forces of US naval forces ::::

What a pathetic cowards. It made us feel pity for them then released them to their moms after 24 hours. Suckling babies

@Erl I think you are mistaken to think that US is only strong "in her boundaries in it's own continent but in west Asia, we recognize them equal to us." You have been drinking your own cool aid far too long. Good luck convincing rational people with that argument.

I don't mean to offend Iranian members here, but a lot of IRI "achievements" can't really be verified, some are just too comical, still others are accepted just because Press TV has a blurb about it, or some IRIGC official says "we will... soon", yet "soon" never comes around. 30-40 year old technology passed as state of art, or claiming to have indigenize some technology, while all evidence points to the opposite, as stated by @Mark Pyruz, has only undermine IRI's credibility.
