What's new

This German couple spent 9 weeks in Pakistan to prove that it is safe for visitors

Welcome to Pakistan

Pakistan had about 1 million tourists last year with almost no incidents happening to them. The figure of 1 million doesn't seem too large but it indeed is when you type it is 1,000,000 tourists. It is safe to travel to Pakistan but just avoid the tribal areas of course.
1 Million foreign tourists is huge. If relations stabilizes with India, I am sure Pakistan will receive maximum number of foreign tourists from India. We just love traveling

I would want to visit Lahore and Islamabad, if only I could get a Visa. I am not a fan of Baluchistan area since it looks very deserted from the pictures. I prefer green areas.

Islamabad, Murree and northern areas are green. Lahore isn't green lol but excellent food though.

the main problem for tourism in Pakistan is security if this is provided infrastructure, hotels, motels, transport, publicity will come automatically. but right now the tourism industry is focused on domestic tourist it is growing each year with less risk of their numbers decreasing like the international tourists .
Domestic tourism is the best ...it not only provides a permanent source of income but also avoids a lot of problems that accompany foreign tourists. People of the country get to know their country and learn about different cultures which is good for the cohesion among the people. And once the industry gets developed for domestic tourism, a layer of facilities can easily be added to attract and facilitate the international / foreign tourists

I'm sure Pakistan is nothing like what is projected in the media, likewise for India.
Ppl say places like Islamabad,Lahore, Faisalabad (your place @Arsalan ) etc are great places to visit.
Does it get too cold in Islamabad? I would like to nudge a few ppl I know there like.........keep guessing. :P

Will I get a visa??
Don't you dare say NO. Grrr @shimshali
Pakistan is a beautiful country but the real beauty of Pakistan lies in its northern areas, villages and far flung areas...

Lahore is extremely polluted with very little greenery, same is true for Faisalabad...Islamabad is the only city that is well planned, relatively clean and has a lot of greenery and nice sight-seeing around the city.

Karachi also has some great areas..

As far as visa is concerned, right now both countries are busy in kicking out diplomats so it is difficult to say..may be in future when the situation gets better..but you should apply for it :)

Exactly. And with a place beautiful like Pakistan. Its so much more reasonable as well. I would love to see the northern area of Pak. I have seen some beautiful pictures of chitta katha lake , Rati Gali Lake, Saif ul Mulk, Hunza Valley and someday I'd like to see Karakorum highway too!

Ppl would ensure that my visa gets cancelled. Lolz

I am from Lahore. :-) the food here is excellent and people are nice too.Food near Badshahi Mosque is a must! There are historical places which are nice to see. Its a vibrant place. You'd see Lahori people outdoors even well after midnight. I have been to Karachi for a day, a vibrant city!

just tease you.. I have seen all of these places :) in addition Mahodand, Naltar lakes, Rama / Astor, Shangrila, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Thandiani and Galiyat, Karimabad, Eagle's nest, and Deosai and more :) but we were just boys...and we had a lot of energy to face any problems...PTDC motels were really good options especially due to their excellent locations, reasonable price and good facilities and standards.

My second cousins( all boys) take trips to these ares quite often, they come back home and show us pictures just to make us jealous :( Yehi koi infrastructure acha hota, girls along with entire family would get a chance too. Yahan to sab dar se hi naheen jane dete.

Unlikely. You may be arrested for being a spy.

Yes...few minutes inside the cell and they will realise how dumb I am. Might even give me a free ride around the city.lol

Are you always so serious?
