We Pakistanis genuinely admire their capabilities they developed under tough circumstances. However due to their involvement in Pakistani sectarians outfits and their closeness with India, we look towards them with suspicion.

@MastanKhan They have far more human resources than us, our education system is a complete wreck, I am not denying that some very good work is being done by some scientists and engineers over here yet Iran is churning out far more scientists than we are, and just as many women as men, remember how they hacked into that stealth drone and bought it down, rumours are that same drone had been flying above our nuclear sites as well the Bin Laden compound, also the way they blinded a US spy satellite, very impressive indeed. That is not to say I do not take with a pinch of salt all of the claims they are making, however they are on the right track and improving very rapidly indeed.Kudos old boy.

The problem there is that china buys most of its sam systems like the s300,s400 and others from russia,the chinese even prefer these over their indigenous sams like the hq9,so that limits the sort of things the chinese can provide you with and buying things like the s300,s400 from russia isnt really an option not that russia would sell them to you anyway,so that only leaves western sams and increasingly america wants to cozy up to india and vice versa so that limits the sort of things the us is willing to supply pakistan with for fear of offending the indians but hey you could try your luck and request the supply of patriot and thaad but whether you`d actually get them....

Whether Iran is ahead in tech or not the point is we cannot create an Island of progress isolated from the rest of world. There was a time in 15th when Turks was considered as a threat in Europe and people in Europe used to associate Turks as Human face beast with some little tail on its back. Now compare Europe of the past with today they've come over from the utopian state of mind and are tuned to THINK BIG

Actually china is buying the very latest s400 sams,the hq9 is only partially based on the s300 and is not even as good as an s300 pmu2 and is barely the equal of the pmu1 which is why china only procured limited numbers of it and kept on buying the s300 and now s400.So its not like china is your best bet its more like its your only bet,tho as I said you can always try your luck with the us....of course its not like they`ve been good allies recently...or even allies at all for that matter.
The problem with being overly reliant on just one country as your main ally is that you run the risk of becoming nothing more than a vassal state of that country rather than a true independent ally,which is exactly what happened to iran under pahlavis dictatorship and is the exact same place the arabs/gulfies are today.If pakistan is just going to exchange being a us vassal for being a chinese vassal how is that an improvement?
The thing that has always baffled me about pakistan is that despite being one of only a handful of nuclear armed states on the planet and the only nuclear armed muslim state and yet despite all this pakistan acts and is treated like some third rate third world vassal state,can you imagine any other nuclear state that would allow another countries drones to fly in its airspace and assassinate its civilians with impunity,could you imagine britain or france allowing this?,how about israel that depends almost totally on the us for its survival?,or north korea that is almost as dependent on china?,could you imagine any of those countries allowing that sort of humiliation?... I cant so why does pakistan?.

i am talking about collaboration, or local production, China does that all the time perfect example are JFT, F-22 frigate and Alkhalid MBT, we produce them at home, while US just sell us with no tech..

I agree we should not rely only on China thats why we are opening with Russia too. Iran is no substitute, we dont want your Qaher, or other genies alien tech.. we just brought mi-35 from Russia, direct supply of RD-93 engine, in future we will sign more deals but it depends on Russian mode.

They killed 2000 (in which majority were TTP terrorist) in drone strikes, where we cant afford to retaliate, Why we didnt retaliate openly against US drones,?? reason can be possible sanctions (we already spend a decade of 90's under sanction bcoz of nuclear program, we dont wanted to be sanction again while India was growing with 2nd highest GDP rate alongside China.,

Downing a drone for military like Pakistan is not a difficult job, so drone does fly with our permission (according to Wikileaks and many former govt officials) thats why its not violation of sovereignty, off course they say lie in public but guess what majority of Pakistanis know that Govt is involved in drone strikes..

2nd reason many high profile terrorists of TTP died in drone attacks which include three TTP chiefs.. so this was another reason our Generals may have supported drones in private meetings..

3rd we avenged their (civilian) lives by supporting Haqqanis and Taliban very smartly according to US, which cost then 4500+ US soldiers..

if we barked like Mullah and shot down a drone, they would sanction us, and a sanctioned Pakistan have to face a 7 times larger India on its eastern side.. and NATO as enemy on western border..

we dont have oil wells or gas blocks like Mullahs..

how many those Mullah killed after barking and shouting 35 years?
