Senate committee calls for ban on Indian channels

Thanks but we don't need indian canuck to tell us what is stupid and immature. Having a walking alligator as an avatar is stupid and immature to me. To each his own.

Let's not accuse people of false identities or treachery. Freakin over time has proven his Pakistaniat through mature discourse.

Personally I think such bans are against Freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Pakistanis should have the right to switch on or switch off the TV on their own.

If they want to watch Saas bhi bahu thi, then that's their own call.

Understandable but we just can't let our guards down, I believe hindia's sole purpose in life is to attempt to destroy, hinder, destabilize, and malign Pakistan in any way shape or form. They have done so many times at any given opportunity and never felt shy about it. When it comes to forming our own reaction to unreasonable isolation and treachery, we come up with debates on freedom of choice. We will still have plenty to choose from even after banning the few useless indian networks and their affiliated anti-Pak garbage.

the people of Pakistan have all the right to ban our products if they don't like them...though I disagree on the part that our channels spread anti-Pakistan propaganda...
most of the channels are based on the Indian domestic consumption...
we have as stupid channels as you have in Pakistan and as intelligent as you have anywhere...in a democracy it should be the individual viewer's choice to watch whatever they want to watch...
many seriously haven't understood till date how to cherish the democracy to the fullest...
it's like having a bad-a$s cell phone loaded with software and using it to just make calls...
you have all the right to ban our news channels....they would always show conflicting news...but the other channels actually do a good job in bridging some of our gaps...
but then you are the consumer...

Well the GoP seems to have overlooked that there must have been a huge demand for these channels for the cable operators to show to broadcast them. Otherwise they didn't need to. And just like the ban on Indian films didn't have any effect on the popularity of Bollywood films I am sure this ban wont work either.

And if the reason is moral corruption of the youth or the society, they have conveniently forgotten about the internet. Urban youth today have recourse to a lot of options other than TV.

Anyways its GoP's call. Just feel sorry for the TV watching public in Pakistan. The aunties who used to love spending their afternoons watching soaps on Indian channels.

not all the Indians are out there to destroy you...hear them out...!
"When it comes to forming our own reaction to unreasonable isolation and treachery, we come up with debates on freedom of choice."
for your own good. When you chose to be a democracy...this part is vital...the sole aim of the decisions taken in a democracy is to have the backing of the majority...
fuk the indian channels...once the govt. of Pakistan decides that they are harmful and should be banned...it really should mean that the people of Pakistan wish that...both the decision and the will should coincide...that is why you..."come up with debates on freedom of choice"
a few months back...ther was an initiative taken by some of the renowned journos of both the countries to have a common understanding on some of the common news...so as to preserve it's truthfulness and neutrality...
whatever is going to happen to it now...

Wow..........when i left yesterday this thread was a good place to be. but now ....

Also, ban bollywood movies and watch 3rd class trash movies made in pakistan.

as many pakistani members and even a Mod have said about quality of pak movies.

Thats our internal matter whether we watch our movies or not but frankly 99% Indian movies or also not worth watching.

I would better prefer some art movies from both sides and if these are not available then i better go for English movies.

Now come back to the topic its about Indian channels showing flesh and pathetic trash soaps yak.

ban them simple as that.

How Many Pakistani channels are allowed in India ???????? Give me answer to this question

We are always better for allowing free speech and they are not for all the times they have banned Pakistani television channels.

Of course I wouldn't mind banning them to prevent revenue flow into India. But for mere words, that can't do anything to us, its an overkill. This type of stuff will ultimately lead to banning our channels whenever they become overly critical of the government's policies.

I personally make it a point to read up on Indian news media, watch Indian news channels, etc. It broadens my perspective and yet I've never really agreed to what they are saying as far as I know whenever Indian media is harping on against Pakistan in those "Das Kadam aur Pakistan Khatam style" the first reaction I've seen from Pakistanis is that "Kitne ****** log hain yeh". It's good the nation would wise up to how the enemy works, and what all it says as propaganda against you in front of other people and how to defend it.

An increase in one's knowledge is never harmful.

Fair enough ONLY when India also allows Pakistani channels to be shown in India.

But its not the case so i dont think so we can be defensive in the name of freedom of expression.

These are not some news channels but preaching just hindu rituals polluting the minds of young people.

What is there in their content ? other than exposure of too much flesh, fake status inferiority complex ridden content.

These Indian channels are Not at all contributing anything positive to our society.

Hmmm definitely. I think if there is an actual blockage of Pakistani revenue from India then there should be tit-for-tat banning to block India's revenue as well. My comments are merely in the pure free speech scenario.

To get one's mind 'polluted' is the right of the individual.

If the young folks are under 18 then its the responsibility of the parent to shield them from religious indoctrination as they see fit. It's a parental right that the government cannot assume.

Adults can switch the channel and again parents can utilize parental control norms to block such content.

If they won't be liked they would be switched off. Let the society decide that for itself.

Pure speech is no doubt supported by all of us. But again keeping in view your religious scenario you can not allow everything that negates your faith and preach you things which are not allowed by your religion.

If still everything should be allowed in the name of free speech then i think we need to wind up all the religious organisations which curb the freedom of speech in the name of blasphemy.

That is the easiest suggestion which all of us forward to everyone But again even in the west the some Govts had put some filters to avoid exploitation of youth in the name of this free entertainment.

Anyway i am all for banning Indian channels as long as India also does not allow Pakistani channels in India.

when bharatiyas are not allowing our channels why should we allow theirs.

When Mumbai attack happend they even banned Pakistani actors and even mistreated them.

Not all speech is free...tell me what Pakistanis think if some social group advocating break up of Pakistan were given a channel...or how about a Taliban Box Office (TBO) ? The same criterion have fallen for many indian programmings including the point of revenue blockage brought up earlier above somewhere. Pakistanis still have internet, and the rest of global media to help them decide what is so wrong about their country and identity.

 agree. why selective freedom of speech should be practiced in the first place.

Anyway NO Indian had replied to my question that how many Pakistani channels are allowed to be shown in India by Indian govt ???
