Open Debate | How to conduct a 'reasonable debate' between Pakistanis and Indians on PDF?

Sorry I don't agree to your point number 5 because I know a pathological indian troll who is in 40s. So I believe that there may be similar trolls from other nationalities too.
who is he?

I do have another suggestion though i have said that active moderation in my sight is the only way to create a platform where Indians and Pakistanis can have a civil discussion. I believe the mods should only post in Senior's cafe that might also affect their moderation activities for the better and excessive complaints and trolling won't go unnoticed.
Regards.
I had suggested the same sometime ago, but some mods want to voice their opinion. I remember @Oscar saying its like a condom for his mouth or something like that ..

When i have to delete 50 posts at a time, do you really expect me to provide a reason for every single one of them?

What we need to do is to educate ou members that this forum is not a battlefield.

You are not the first Mod here on the forum & neither shall you be the last.

Those before you did it & it was a good idea.

The system could have a drop down menu for Mods with pre fixed options like " OffTopic post' , " Flamebait", ' Discussed earlier", ' Trolling', ir- relevant post' etc. Lastly there can be an option like ' others' where Mods could enter their remarks if none of the existing ones fit the bill.

This in turn shall educate members on what is not appreciated on the forum.

Thori Mehnat to karni paregi Mere Bhai.

Thank you for putting it so delicately.. :o::p:

The simple fact is, one cannot moderate and practice celibacy about their opinions at the same time. However, moderation is very rarely affected by opinion as generally playing god on the forum turns out to be no fun. Moreover, suppose you have a moderation "bot"... what sort of decision will he make? How will that interpret certain opinions as unforgivable and forgiveable.. how will it know exactly where to be "political" and realize that a certain issue has heated up due to "xyz" factors and hence must be dealt with differently.. or that a supposedly eloquent person is just a troll derailing a thread.

You need the human factor..and that human factor means that they too can have opinions on the matter and should be allowed to express those.

Coming to the matter of Seasoned debates between Indian and Pakistanis... there is only one way.. that is example by the Think Tanks and educated members. I do not mention senior as the number of posts does not determine seniority and many of the "Senior" and "Elite" members here are ..pardon my french.. Arseholes who are generally not worthy of respect nor any special treatment.

Some of the debates between Indian TTs and Pakistani TTs are worth seeing as an example.. additionally, those who are educated and possess good family values and intellect should have better sense to report and disparage any member from their own nationality that is engaging in pointless flaming or even low quality parroting. That will greatly affect the ability of those members whose sole purpose is to inflame and derail threads and make the jobs of moderators easier to keep them pink as much as possible.

Then thats an indelicate opinion of a single individual and the reason this thread exists is because none of the tried and tested methods of the mods have worked so far in this regard. If they want to actually have sane and somewhat sensible debates on the topic compared to flamewars and unnecessary trolling they would have to employ some new methods if not then they must let it stay as it is. The choice is obviously theirs. Their forum, their rules.

the issue is exacerbated by the fact that many title holders post offensive and rude posts themselves.(break forum rules).
Anyway, my jihad against such practice will continue. :butcher:

btw I liked oscar's expression, which is why I remember it. :)

Denial, hysteria, irrationality, ignorance. It's just that many member have poor attitudes. Including some of these so-called "Senior" and "Elite" Members. Heck, even some TT's.

I've also noticed a lot of chit-chat going on. Cutting them in half isn't such a bad idea either (especially seasoned trolls). I don't know, I'm not very creative.

is chit chat really a problem? I mean compared to the abusive posts and flame wars, its much better.
