What's new

Saudi Arabia expresses interest in JF-17 co-production with Pakistan.

Please keep an eye on rapidly changing scenario between the US and KSA.

For 7 or 8 decades the US catered to KSA had in glove because it had no choice due to scarcity of oil.

Now with the glut of oil and with impending Shale drilling of Oil and Gas, that dependency is developing fault lines as we have seen on US handling of Egypt and Syria and Iran over the KSA objections.

KSA is exploring new relationships in light of these new realities and no longer takes dictation from the US or caters to US desires.

I understand but than again $60B worth equipment/weapons delivery at stake, first KSA would get it before coming out openly against or raising it concerns and voice openly explicitly.

And that is just the point. Saudis will buy weapons from Pakistan if the weapon meets their requirement and not because it happens to be from a Brotherly Nation.

I hate to burst your bubble but Al-Khalid is not the answer to every Army's need.

Al-Khalid is a light-weight Tank which has been designed to suit the needs of Pakistan Army and its budget.

Saudis looked at Al-Khalid but found it unsuitable for the desert environment of KSA.

If they now engage in JFT project, it will be purely on merits of the aircraft and what it has to offer to KSA in terms of value.

@Armstrong, Capisch ?
i think u have a wrong info.

Americans offered them a better version than Khalid. MBT. So they didn't opted for Khalid
they brought german Leopard. Period!

Our commando welcome, KSA is now thinking of switching to american tanks once again as per latest info. We can see how M-1 was and where it stands as an ultra heavy tank, so no its not something impossible to make AK a few tons more heavier due to its better future armor, systems, engine.

I think he is suggesting that T-90 is also a lightweight tank by the modern standard.
But AK actually is made for pak's deserts and was tested and is operated in deserts where temperature reaches 55 Celsius in summer......... By saying Saudis looked at Al-Khalid but found it unsuitable for the desert environment of KSA. is a clear clue that the respected person is somehow misinformed.

I'd like it add something if I may. The 60-billion dollars contract will finish by 2030.

Well sir whatever it is in the end of the day discussions in the forums r hypothetical, we simply dont know enough to assume the reality.

Al Khalid is at least comparable to the Russian T-90 with the suitable desert operation design.

It is definitely the most suitable main battle tank for the ME countries.

But Pakistan should make the stronger promotion for its weapons, since most people are simply too superstitious about American or Russian weapons, any weapons not made by them must be automatically suck. We are not in the Cold War anymore, this kind of mentality is simply outdated.

We fly Pakistan jets which we could have obtained elsewhere.

We use Pakistani-modified Chinese mortars which we could have gotten elsewhere.

Thus, I don't think everything been said is entirely true.

@Aeronaut ^ check who's here, it is the Israeli guy

And whatever the Israelis have in mind, one thing for sure is that Israel has always and will always be a pan-handling begging parasitic state which has been bleeding ever since it was existed.

common bro , they are chosen one's ... they are allowed to do anything they want ... and i must say they had United States of Security Guards protecting them 24/7 :rofl::rofl:

Alot could have been achieved besides going for German/American tanks, AMX-30 replacement AK-1/2 would have been a much better choice. I am understanding your posts but then again here is where inputs/Funds JV comes isn't AK-2 a bit heavier than AK-1 Yes it is it would be as the sophistication comes by the enemy has a better product so will Pakistan have to move towards such equipment be it tanks and aircrafts provided funds.

Anyway the only point without all this discussion is it is a general visit it is a visit to discuss iranian problem supporting saudi point of view, giving charity to Pakistan, giving some lecture to Pakistan and some other letters from US.

This perspective is utterly wrong. Pakistan isn't the only country on earth to receive financial assistance. Many countries across the globe do.

I'm very offended by it :( ..
