What's new

Iraq orders 24 Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters, deliveries start this year

They did not arm, this is just an example, forget this 1, only meddling in internal affairs.
Turkmen are not even targetted because they are Turkmen, everyone is targeted, besides that story was about Turkmen in Toz Khormatu a city currently occupied by KRG, and who is helping KRG..

PKK is not an Iraqi matter, I never said this, Turkey is meddling in other internal matters therefor the Iraqi government criticizes Turkey on airspace violations, they dont care about the PKK.

You know what would fix the problem, all Turkey has to do is deal with the central government instead of with KRG then it would be solved.. only as we see AKP has different plans.
The complicated thing is that Turkey would not mind dealing with the central government directly, only the KRG offers cheap oil/gas therefor Turkey violates the Iraqi constitution dealing with them first..

Anyway this is more about politics, not so much to do with the weapons.

edit

I think working with both KRG and Central Government is more realistic you want Turkey to cut ties with KRG is difficult from this point because they are already have many partners from around the world EU, US and others. I mean Turkey is not the only one.

Not cutting ties, I dont know the law there exactly so I cannot explain how but some things recquire permission from the central government, if they want they can work that out.

Firstly Turkey is not the only one who work with KRG directly but Central goverment make trouble only when it comes to Turkey.

basically central government says come to us dont talk to Kurds that is same as asking to cut all ties.

Armament
Guns: 1× 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 Chain Gun with 1,200 rounds as part of the Area Weapon Subsystem
Hardpoints: Four pylon stations on the stub wings. Longbows also have a station on each wingtip for an AIM-92 ATAS twin missile pack.[58][239]
Rockets: Hydra 70 70 mm, and CRV7 70 mm air-to-ground rockets
Missiles: Typically AGM-114 Hellfire variants; AIM-92 Stinger may also be carried.

Im not confidant about that unless solid proof is represented.

Actually they will be equipped with B61 thermonuclear bombs.

its a stupid question asking what an Apache will be equipped with as there are only a few weapons that are always used on them and all of them have congress approval for Iraq as Iraq already uses the hellfire missile and the stinger missiles, hydra 70 does not recquire any approval, even that is already used on mi 17s.

Only the Apache itself needed congress approval.

Hoshyar Zebari confirms Iraq will receive Apaches this year.
a $3 billion*deal to purchase 24 Apache helicopters. Iraq is getting six delivered in a few months under a lease arrangement to use until the full Apache order*is completed.

Better for them to get a total of 50 Apache Longbow in total.

Apache is expensive, the price of 1 Apache is the price of 3 MI 28 for Iraq, ( source : Iraqi minister of defence ).

+ They want to have multiple sources so that they will not depend on 1 country too much in terms of ammo and spare parts.

Will they make a Fusion of Mi-28 and AH-64D Apache and Black Shark ?

The number of KA 52 that are ordered is 10, they will use it as a command/leader of 4 MI 28s given that the KA 52 has better avionics even though they can all operate on their own.
I do not know exactly why they went for 3 different types, but atleast it is a good force of attack helicopters for air-ground power.

Not sure about KA52 (misses cannon) but MI28N are powerful and excellent attack helicopters for anti tank/personel..

MI 28 is like the Apache, KA 52 is supposed to be a heavier heli able to engage tanks at 10+km

Congrats to Iraq! Apache helis are a good choice, worth the $3 b.
