Kashmiris to condemn India’s LoC aggression on 14th

MUZAFFARABAD: Kashmiris would observe the day of condemnation on January 14 against Indian army aggression along the Line of Control (LOC), Geo News reported Friday.

The announcement was made by Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed during a protest rally at the Muzaffarabad Central Press Club.

Addressing the rally the prime minister said all the Kashmiris hold protest demonstrations outside UN offices and Indian embassies across the world.

He also called on All Parties Huryat Conference to mark the Jan 14 as day of condemnation.

This is all semantics and figurative politics. Never carried any meaning, never will!

LOC is not about Kashmir only and protests or no protests, J&K will never be negotiable for either side.

But, this is the scary part... The fact that for the first time in last decade of Con-gress rule, Indian Govt has officially accepted that a 'controlled response' has been given, is a remarkable departure from our reticent PM and his Cabinet, though I am sure they knew about the first response only after it happened. And when a 'generally polite & politically correct Indian MEA' officially acknowledges such a thing openly, it just means that public pressure is so high that they can't even afford to care!

Escalation on this issue is not in the benefit of both countries, but there are so many vested interests (within and outside) on both sides, that just want the normalcy to end... Alas, they seem to be getting some successes!

@mastaan whats the situation currently ? Any sign of abatement or firing still going on ?

@KS I saw some news about 82MM mortar firing (don't know if you remember, but I mentioned that they use it quite often) along Krishna Ghati (KG) area - Which is pretty remote area and thus very sparsely populated. Other than that, firing was pretty normal for that border, but the younger generation is experience this kind of exchange for the first time in last 2-3 years (after 2008). My last conversation with cousin was that there has been intermittent, but heavy firing from both sides and it goes on. With the latest stance shown by MEA, I am a bit worried if it will slow down at all... I hope it does. Really want to see everyone healthy, when I'm with them again in 3 months

I said THEY (PA) use 82mm mortars not us (IA) and I was quoting what I saw (Personally, I just know that they use mortars and how it sounds)... We are sitting at such heights that Mortars aren't much used. Obviously there is much more about the mortar use, but no point of those details here, as it will lead to a mud slinging match... So, let's pass it for today
