for a decade I lived in London, I can only see ever growing Chinese elements in the City (movies, marketing events and traditional chinese holidays) but never heard any Hindi events```I cant really find where does the slum 'soft power' reside in London
What dimension are you living in.

South Asian culture is very much a part of the London culture, so much so that the word "Asian" means South Asian. Chinese, not so.

Why so serious, China?

How funny that our dear Chinese comrades are so seriously defending what they can never have - a good sense of humor! Accept it guys, somewhere along the "revolution" the Chinese have lost their sense of self-deprecating humor. Psy's Gangnum style is all about making fun and laughing at it!

Get a koolaid, chillax guys!

HK speaks different languages(Cantonese and English) from China
can you please tell us what is Cantonese?how many people speak Cantonese in the world?where are they? and the relationship between Cantonese and Canton.where is Canton?

what the hell is gangnam? nobody knows what it is, why mention in this forum?

Well, you are a mainlander, not Hong Kongese.

Well, then you're not facing the fact.

There are a lot more "Hong Kongese" considers themselves to be Chinese than not, and plus the number of N.Koreans wanted to be S.Koreans combined.

Just in cased our "Korean" friend's huge eyes missed my earlier post, here you go again.

Translation: During a movie award ceremony in Hong Kong, the speaker (a "Hong Kongese") is asking a Japanese child (not sure how to put his name in English), to tell the Japanese government that "Diaoyu" island belongs to China, when he goes back to Japan. Everyone clapped.

China certainly didn't, as Bruce was a natural born US citizen who just happened to make it big in Hong Kong and Jackie is Hong Kongese.

what's meaning of Fangnam???what it is???????

Music video is on youtube; search 'psy gangnam style'.

Actually, it's a double-edged sword. The gangnam video is not promoting Korean culture, but Western culture. Hip hop is not a Korean invention.

However, it is a smart tactic. If you want to reach Western audiences, then the proper vehicle is Western culture, not your local culture. Once you become a household name globally, then you can slip in your local culture in bits and pieces.

something about entertainment, why make so serious on entertainment, one style populor but several years later down

what the hell is gangnam?
It means "Below River".

It usually means two locations.

1. Gangnam in Seoul, the place where multinational corporation HQs, financial firms, luxury stores, entertainment companies, luxury housing, and clubs are concentrated at. The reason PSY sings about "Gangnam" in "Oppa Gangnam Style" is because of the night clubbing scene.

2. Gangnam also means the area below Yangtze river in China, historically economically prosperous area of China.

Why can't mainland China produce a popular film industry.
Most investment goes into infrastructure, 10 percent of GDP goes into Infrastructure, movie industry only shares a small percent.
