On December 20th 2010 the J-20 was spotted. It followed on to make 70+ documented test flights in the next year.

The situation is same like US producing F-16V to fill F-35 Gap. Thats why they are called 4+ gen fighter.
You are involved in 5 Gen program but it will take time, so you have to upgrade MKIs to Super MKIs, TO FILL THE GAP.
