its also not "new"

it was first seen in iran by late 2019 and was 1 year later used by houthis under the name Mersad-1.

they were already around 25-30 of them in use by IRGC navy in 2020 ,

the drone is called Ghased in Iran.

here IRGC navy receiving some of them in 2020

The yemenis rather cleverly produced their own vtol variant of the drone by extending the tail booms forward of the wing and then fitting small electric vtol thrusters onto the booms.

Trying to figure out that flat black strip on the body of the drone...is that a lightening protection!!! or some kind of antenna.:undecided:
Thats one of the lines for the emergency parachute recovery system.
Which I think is actually a first on a drone of this size, certainly I havent seen any comparable drones with this sort of system fitted, indeed iran is one of the very few countries to produce and operate military uavs and ucavs equipped with these systems.
Theres a particularly horrible video of a shot down/malfunctioning saudi wing long type ucav crashing into a store front in yemen with no warning whatsoever and killing at least one luckless person, you can see what appears to be a smear of brain matter,or something similar,on a piece of the wreckage.

Watch again, although it looks like the version from Yemen, the body of this drone is a bit different. The back part is longer. This is a new improved version

Both sides of the ribbon are fixed on the body surface, no compartment for parachute, so ...

I think it's used for lifting the drone, along the structure on the top, some thing temporary.

There is also some object on the top of the fuselage that seems a more likely location to hoist the craft upwards and seems more out of place than the ribbon. Maybe that top object can house a modest radar giving this drone limited awacs capabilities?

For the object on the top I agree..It is a Hoisting jig..you can actually see the crane hook location.

The black ribbon ..part of it is taped to the body but the straight run has an actual guide rail at the top run which looks parts of the fuselage.. so....mystery remains kind of unsolved..lol:undecided:

I thought drone intercommunication including surveillance was baked into many Iranian drones .
